my low poly me character.

Our project is to create character recognizable as ourselves for a post apocalyptic world. Anyway, it needs to be low poly and I'm having a lot of trouble getting the low poly edgeloops right. I'm still saving up for topogun so I'm using maya to do the low poly and uv. Then I'll bring it back into zbrush and project the high poly back on to get the normals. I'm sure i'm overcomplicating things but thats the only way I've ever done it in the past. This is my first human character with multiple objects. My last model was Carnage from Marvel so I didn't have to run into these problems. I've searched and I know theres a ton of material on the subject but I can't seem to soak anything out of them. :(

here it is from zbrush, I still haven't loaded any accessories on but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I suppose. And I was having masking bugs so my other hand got crushed. I was assuming Ii can just duplicate the good one later?

So i'm hoping I can get some help, tips, or flamed for being a newb and linked to a kick ass tutorial or something. :P
