after a long ass year of brain fuck ima try 3d once more
before i make myself look liek a fool doing character sculpts, ima tackle
anatomy over these weeks.
whats bugging me is the planes of the face and how it relates to the muscles.
is studyin asaro + facial muscles(red skull wip) this week.
heres waht i studied so far,
so crit away. dont crit details.idgaf about teeth or
ears or -bony look- just yet. just larger things. like proportions, angles, planes,
thanks for input

jus a baldy head study figuring out planes for the average male. Note the ears, nose, mouth wernt part of this study, CC's pl0x
a self crit : flattened lips and pulled them back more, pronounced the brow,
defined the obic'oris a little more, a tad more temporal , refined/learned some nose+ears, probably need to refine eyelids(straighter angles?) but the topo is crushing a lil
@allmighty : cheers . i did the studies out of frustration of sucking so hard at heads hehe. wait that sounded wrong.
ill try flesh out some more heads with more character using photos, staying close to the notes iv taken.
this head will be my forever WIP 'base alpha male head' as far as landmarks, CC's on it will be great. i shud try some hair cuts.
quick iteration after work. now to some drawings to relax ma head.
:ears pushed forward, widened chin, defined nose cartilage ,added hair (lulz)
learning alot, the slower i take it. befor i used to rush but shoot if i get my hours reduced all i have is time.
1st pass using some photographs. CC's welcommen.
@SupRore : thanks ! the eyes elude me , i should take more care with them are they are the windows to our souls right >.<
2nd pass. Wanted younger look, more sorrow. but youthfull ness. oh. idk. CC's!
last iteration:
self crit: Pushed orbital bone forward, tweaked nose, tweaked width of head, defined massester, defined brow bone, nots sure about the depth of the eye in the socket. On to the nxtt study .CC's welcome =D
weekend sculpt . not sure about the cheek bone. cc's!
oof. huge break from sculpting. another pass of latest sculpt. shud start a new study soon. with less ugly .
keep them coming
cleaner topo, still figuring out a way to attack the mouth n eyes. cc's
(subscribin!)
@Cheese_Shinobi: thanks! was planning to put hair on his skull buht got lazy.
starting off in anatomy. .in theory i can wing most of it, as long as the major points are there. not sure on the clavicle area it looks funky atm. CC's!
after watching the machinist i soon realised my proportions were way off. sculpted down the muscles and refining more. 2nd pass. the titties still look weird >.<
edit:jus updated the pic. Next top the forearms and hands. titties look better no?
arm+hand 1st pass..
kinda ashamed at the hands at the moment. stil figuring out the muscle groups
the legs might be a bit long and bow out a bit much above the knee
Keep it up! i can see your making progress with each pass
edit : re jig of proportions after work =.= ,thanks pinkbox! dialing in proportions now
cc's for the weekend sculpt..gnna tackle hands.
2nd edit : jus updated the pic. Im gnna finish this study on 80% complete. softened up details and added some fat deposits. Im prety hesistant departing with my beloved bony landmarks, but i guess ill get used to it.
CC's on anything really.
but time for some female faces in coming weeks. YAY.
after an hour of throwing up gang signs at my desk, 1st pass of hands.
its tedious as fuck. not committing to the nails or creases yet, i might make the hand more bowed in and fiddle with proportions more, cc's.
first pass female head. moving the proportions around, keepin it manly -.-'
cc's.
softened up details, added way more cheek, suprised how much it takes to fill the face , the frontal bone is a bit off, im not sure atm. bigger lips too.
by saying "keepin it manly" do you mean that you intentionally want to keep manly features or that you have a hard time getting away from those features? so far most of your face sculpts look like they could stem from the same reference. maybe you're going too much by how things look in anatomy books and less by how those features are portrayed on different kinds of faces?
peoples faces are so unique so i find it hard to critique your female face. there's nothing really wrong with it but if you're going for a more typical female face one thing would be to downsize the proportions of her jaw and nose. also, she's got quite a lot of muscle tone on her neck and jaw muscles. there's nothing wrong with that, though. she looks quite butch to me, like she's in the military or something and that's cool.
2nd edit: CC's as iv looked at it too much to even know if its bad/good. I will turn this into a next gen style head jus for painting practise. But for now, next head study.
edit : 2nd pass. tweaking shit back n forth, more chin too. creeping away from the butch look?
@oska, yeh i was finding it hard to keep it feminine as im quite attached to the anatomy studies which made me emphasize landmarks
aside from learning anatomy..proportions..getting a true feeling of human will take more observations and jus vibing with the sculpt . with this face , i want friendly and soft and feminine, even a little chubbyness lol. so im not quite there yet. thanks for input you pretty much wrote what i was thinking , ima take a few more passes at this one.
new study. girlfriend helpfully pointed out i didnt need every anatomical landmark.
i was like. GTFO...-re does sculpt-
CC's. 1st pass 1 day. whilst havin a nice long talk. its weird the less i think about the sculpt the more i can fiddle with things and not feel anchored down ..idk.
tiny bump
Also, I really like your most recent sketches.
wip pencil and quickie ink sketch.
oska: yup i do that, or sumtimes jus loose scratchy ink lines, then go in heavy when i feel confident on the line (which i never do) i wana try comic book style inking, looks too dope. but im a long way from that.
i wan scan the big one in and try paint it. or ink it. idk stil workin on pencils atm. cc's i guess lol. jus takin a break from sculpts fuh now , jus havin fun with anatomy
cc's? been lookin at this way too long now. i deffo need to catch up on my painting skillz , struggled abit with everything -.-
a fun line study
hard work works !
keep it up!
Good work, I really dig it!
sketch
edit : Charcoal study
cheers, these studys are from reference for sure! concentrating on line work, and features of the face. starting to get into painting so stay tuned . jsu realised iv neglected 3d for months ..but hopefully itll be worthwhile when i return to head sculpts.
eesh . been a while. i blame females. new wip, will clothe her and everythang. comments n crits !
