New to game asset creation

Greetings polycount,

Im a student and this is my blockout of a scene a designed on paper, its a pathway from one part of a temple to another with a gate at each end of the path.

I'm self taught for the most part only having been taught how to create a pawn in 3dsmax with a spline and lathe (Lacking Teaching)

Id like to know where to go from here, I dont know much about current work flows other then to make the peice, ship it to mudbox/Zbrush and sculpt in details then turn it into normal maps (I dont exactly know how to do this)

Ill be working on this as much as possible and plan to take it into the udk and set up the scene to a greater extent.

Any learning materials or suggestions would be appreciated

Help me make a kick ass scene and become a kick ass artist like you lot !

I hope to include lots of flowers,Vines and plants around the scene

I would suggest you read all that you can in the wikis', practice poly modeling, watch tuts on youtube, and just log some hours with the software. I'm not sure you are at the point where you should be worrying about being able to put assets into a game engine yet. Lathe is nice and all but I would start by making..uhm, crates! lol, simple enough but you can practice all kinds of techniques on this simple geo including normal maps. :D
