Oh you mean ruthlessly rule over the people... well the single dictator will probably be replaced with a highly corrupt government that pretends to be a democracy, or at least that is how the last few have gone.
Then about 30-40 years from now when everyone is sick of the corruption someone will lead a new band of rebels and freedom fighters to overthrow the government and replace it with one clear headed person. Only during that struggle they do things that change them in ways no one could have expected. That person will end up unstable, paranoid and rule with an iron fist, until...

With Bin Laden, al-Awlaki and Gadhafi all going down this year, the Obamanator has some famous heads to mount on the wall next to his Nobel Peace prize. A Democrat with a ferocious record on national security but totally hopeless domestic policy - he's everything that no one expected as US President.
If they are next, I hope it's by virtue of a popular Iranian revolution and without major US involvement. Obama played his hand with Libya just right, getting the desired result without sticking America's dick in everyone's face.

Saddam got to spend a few years in captivity watching South Park and attending to a small garden of his own before he got hanged. Osama was hunted for a decade and got shot. Gadaffi was apparently beaten to death.
And you guys probably don't remember but in 1990 in Romania, when the people revolted, they've managed to capture the dictator Ceaucescu while he and his wife were trying to flee. They've been sentenced to death and executed immediately by a shooting squad.
Not sure which was the worst way to go.
And it makes you wonder how Chavez, Kim Jong-Il and the rest must be feeling right now. Although, sadly, there are plenty of opressing goverments now that aren't ruled by a single person and thus they'll probably remain at power...
I saw footage of some idiots firing jeep-mounted AA guns randomly into the air too. Even now on the evening news interviews, there is anti-aircraft tracer fire going off all over the cities.

Well no I don't think it does make them savages, it was done in romania and albania and those people aren't ever refereed to as savages. The killing of a dictator is a big deal and is cause to celebrate even if it is the loss of a life.
There is a huge difference between parading in the streets because an evil dictator died (which is fine) and parading around the streets with his dead corpse while kicking it and shooting bullets in the air.
For one thing it burns a lot more calories...
