I don't listen to music..... Ever.. I would go as far as saying I hate music.
I do like background noise, so I have the TV running. Lately it has been Storage Wars.. But usually Twit or some thing.
not one tune, but usually a mix from this website will put me into a trance from whitch I cant escape and the only thing I want to do is create http://www.berlin-techno-podcast.com/

When I do have a show running tend to get more distracted why I love podcasts
i used to think like this, too.
until that one night we had to finish a team project and decided to listen to take that - back for good in loop until the project was finished.
It's lame, but generally when I need to focus and get dat shit done, I usually put on some podcasts... people talking about what I love while working kinda fires me up.
woah, I was just reminded of what I was listening to as my pick me up song when I made a real effort to get my first industry job - no video games, carrying my laptop everywhere to work on my portfolio, trying to come to grips with the death of my father. Maybe it's a bit cheesy but here it is:
When I'm at work, if I need to get shit done I usually listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan or Judas Priest. If I'm stressed out, I'll listen to Neil Young.
I actually just started putting together a playlist for this. So far, it has Gonna Fly Now and Going the Distance (Rocky I soundtrack), Panama, The Final Countdown, and Blood Red Skies.
Why do we have you :P. It's clearly stated in the OP... "A bit different to the 'what are you listening to' thread, I'd like to know what one or two main tunes do you throw on with the volume up when you're up against it and really need to Get Shit Done?"
Although some of the tunes here are distinctly lower-octane than I was hoping for, I guess it just means people have different tastes for 'intense work' music.

I think it depends on the context, I tend to reserve the heavy stuff for when im getting through work but need to go faster. the chill is when im stressed and need to clear my head and just focus.
Hboy, try not to be offended it was intended as a joke, I wasn't really calling your very existence into question. This thread was made as a request for tunes which psyche you up to beat a deadline- a very specific goal. For me, I was crunching for my IGF submission, but I know the topic resonates all too well with everyone in the industry.
The WAYLT is about any music whatsoever you like listening to, any style any genre. Do feel free to continue posting in there, I'm not trying to replace it.
Here's a couple of old Prodigy tunes which I really need to add to my playlist:
