Haven't started modelling this yet, I drew it the span of a few hours or so. Its a robot P.I., I figure polycount could help me refine the design before I start doing any highpoly work.
@ninjaofu: Never played streetfighter before but you're right its very similar.
@tda: Yeah that was part of my inspiration to make this.
@Shad0wforce: Never seen it, google image search shows a neat character though. Also very similar.
@Snader: Seen Blade Runner, why don't you like retro clothing though? I was concidering making the clothing more of a part of his body rather then on it, so like metal parts that look like a double breasted vest, rather then a real vest.
I don't like the retro clothing because it's just old clothes. A reference to the past is great, but sure;y there's some way to make it a 'raincoat from the retro-noir-future' rather than 'an old raincoat'.
A good example (from Blade runner) of futurizing everyday items is this:
It's a traditional umbrella, but it's also clearly from the future.
Making the parts part of the body is a cool idea, but make sure it reads as a part of him - have some clear visible gaps for instance.
hmm. I might also have to retract my statement about the arms. I hadn't noticed the one off to the left.
mmm, besides the grey lining and the squared box "face", I dont get the robot feeling. I think you;ll need to work a lot more on the design to get something credible/interesting. I saw you said took some hours. I ll conseil you to spend some more hours and refine the concept. Idea is interesting but you should you push it further imo.

Don't give him retro clothing. Give him retro-with-some-future clothes.
Watch Blade Runner.

Haha what on earth does that even mean?!

A new concept appears!
Blocking out dem shapes. Keeping in mind everyone's references shown here, I'll be tweaking things as I go to try and unify the design.
