Hey kids,
I'm moving to Toronto to study a Fine Art program and arrive Sunday 28th, August. So if you Toronto Polycounters want to catch up for a meet-up one night hit up this thread and we'll see what we can sort out.
The guys here in Pittsburgh have made me feel more than welcome and have kept me entertained during my whole stay. So you Toronto kids have some big shoes to fill.
Also, I don't have a place to live yet (I do however have a place to crash for a week or so), so I may hassle some of you for advice about areas to avoid or areas to consider. So far I'm looking at Oakville (as it'll be the closest to my school).

Can't tell you much about places to live.. Oakville is nice, but pretty pricey from what I know..everything else would be a long commute to the school.. Awesome school though.. very highly regarded
Welcome to Ontario
Well this is my third day in Toronto and it seems pretty nice so far. Heading out to the school today and also inspecting a few places in Oakville and Mississauga, so hopefully something pans out before classes start next week.
So far, it seems like a one on one, brandoom. Hahaha. Bromance at its finest.
isnt adam supposed to be moving into the city someti.e soon too?
Would you guys be interested in combining the meet-up with an IGDA videogame artist/Polycount focused panel? We could go to / attend the panel then afterwards hit up a pub and drink ourselves in to a stupor?
Lesley, my producer at work, is IGDA Toronto's president and wants to work with Polycount (the community, not the company) and put together a panel of artists from Toronto for others to listen to, learn from, and discuss with.
Thoughts?
EDIT: MikeF -- I'm here already man! Bathurst & Eglington, hizzah!
But I'm cool to combo that shit up for the same night. Except by the time that comes around, I'll most likely be living in Oakville or Mississauga, but I'll happily ride the train to party town.
Is the panel open for attendance for all members of the industry Adam ?
Emil -- You can stay with Gail and I that night.
I live in Mississauga, but I am always up for the gathering, especially the one from Polycount. =\
So we can still plan to meet up here and all attend for free, or any other time that works best for everyone.
I dont know if this IGDA thing is gonna happen or not, but either way i think a good meet and greet would be in order. I think a nice central location would work best, possibly something like the elephant and castle on yonge by college ave.
If anyone wants to throw a PM my way for phone numbers ect.. then feel free
My best days are usually on wednesday and thursday, but i'm pretty flexible so lets get this going
If some people are coming from the union station, why dont you guys consider meeting up at dundas station. =\
Any night this week except Friday and Saturday works great for me,
adam, whats the word on your end in terms of the igda meeting meetup? stil a possibility?
Jacque, YES! Be there! Do it!
If the IGDA thing is a bust, I'll throw down a day and time and see if it works best of everyone. Ideally a Friday/Saturday night would probably work best for everyone due to school/work commitments during the day.
I need to know more people in Toronto so I can leave the house every once in a while that isn't school or food related! Haha.

Im going.
I guess I'll either have to pass up on the very thing I tried to get going. HA! Or maybe we can get something going Friday 23rd September?
