Operation Black Mesa Mod Team looking for backup!

Hello there!
Operation Black Mesa is a Source Engine Mod with the purpose of recreating and interpreting (not a 1:1 remake, that would be boring! :P) the award-winning Half-Life Expansion-pack: Opposing Force - The epic singleplayer alongside the outstanding multiplayer, delicately recreated with the latest Source engine, to combine a new level of visual and technical delight with stunning gameplay to make a remake truly worthy of the original.

Here is a small showcase of some of our media; to show you how dedicated we are to reproducing each asset of Opposing Force to the highest possible quality:

You can see more media on our site, below:

We're also working on new site design and functionality; so our latest media will go into the new site. We will also be switching to new forums soon as well.

We've shifted most of our development focus onto the MP build, and with the rapid progress we've made recently, there is a light at the end of the tunnel named "MP Alpha" not too far away.

However I've not come here to write a novel about stuff, but rather to announce that we're currently in need of following developers:

(Map) Prop Modeller: We currently are in need of 3D Modellers to produce props to bring our levels to life. You should be able to model polygon efficient models and create diffuse, normal/specular (greyscale) maps. Knowledge regarding compiling for Source is preferable, but by no means necessary.

Weapon Modeller: We are also searching for talented modellers to reproduce the weapons found in both the Single- and Multiplayer modes of Opposing Force. You should be experienced with modelling weapons from concepts and photos. Texturing is a plus, but not necessary.

Weapon Animator: We currently require various animations for the weapons already modelled, alongside those we will need for those we have yet to do. You should have experience with weapons animation. We usually use a Biped rig for first person animations (we may change to IK at a later date).

Character Modeller: One of the most noticeable measures of the quality of a game is how well its characters are designed. We are looking for talented individuals with a passion for organic modelling to craft high-quality characters for use in the Single- and multiplayer builds.

Character Animation Rigger: Characters dont move from their own, so we need developers, who can set up rigs for animation for various characters (humans, aliens and animals alike). Valve uses a biped rig for humans, so do we. Smaller aliens use an IK rig.

Character Animator: Once the riggers have done their work, we need someone to make the marionette move. It is required that you can animate either IK and Biped (preferably both) rigged models.

Maintenance & Administration of dedicated test server: We are also looking for someone willing to host a testing server for our multiplayer build. They must be trustworthy, and readily available for contact by the team. General experience with server and client side issues is a plus.

Level Designer: What would a game be without carefully planned and developed levels? We are looking for experienced level designers with a background in Source mapping to help craft the levels present in Opposing force. We are looking for both Single- and Multi-player level designers, and we intend to produce our own levels alongside those in Opposing Force.

Environment Texture Artist: So that the Mappers can fully succeed in creating awesome looking environments to kick some aliens ass, they need, of course, textures. Ability to create seamless textures is required.

Source Particle Artist: To support our current particle artist bolty, we are looking for someone to help with creating the vast mass of particles needed. You should know what you do :D Being able to create own sprites is desirable, but not necessary.

Sound Artist: Every game needs a strong sound-bank to support it's gameplay. We are looking for people with a talent for producing weapon sounds; ambient and creature sounds will be necessary later.

All those who feel like contributing in one or more of these fields, grab your mouse and navigate to our application forums here:

Applications - Operation Black Mesa

If your skills are not listed here but you feel that you would make a valuable addition to the Operation: Black Mesa team, feel free to drop an application here Applications - Operation Black Mesa no matter what.

The application itself is a non-gruelling task set by the developers to allow us to gauge both your skill level and where you would best fit into the mod. We consider what you produce in your application to be your first contribution to the development of the mod.

Thanks for your time!

We're hoping to eventually be able to greet you over at our forums! (Even if you just hop over to see whats going on, it's always encouraging to see support! :) )

Best regards,
Dopefish & Operation Black Mesa Modding Team
