Upgrading Computer need feedback

So I'm upgrading my computer and my buddy is helping me find the necessary equipment. Basically I need an overhaul new graphics card motherboard processor the whole nine yards! I am going to be doing more high poly work and I need my computer to run smoothly and be able to handle it seamlessly in Zbrush Maya and everything. this is what he gave me any thoughts or critiques are greatly appreciated!! Like r_fletch_r said, its a Solid State Harddrive. They're significantly faster then traditional hard drives (3.5 7200rpm = up to about 117mb/s read speed, current generation SSDs = up to about 550mb/s read speed). Its great being able to load up Photoshop in under 2 seconds, or Maya in under 8, and a lot of in-app stuff works much faster as well. Best general-purpose upgrade you can do for a PC these days imo.

They're expensive though, you're looking at about $250 for 128gb, but most people have a 2nd HDD for data storage anyway.

o ok thanks you guys I really appreciate the help! Maybe I should do the SSD as my primary drive with my OS on it and my other hard drive for all my other files....

What is it with people and buying expensive cases? Save $80 and get a cheap one that has decent ventilation. Truthfully, you cannot engineer a case well enough to make me buy one for more than $30.

Go for a relatively small SSD and then just have a massive backup, external or internal.

I would go 120GB min. for an SSD. You'll regret getting anything smaller. OS + Important apps + working art files + random OS cache/temp files/etc eats up space pretty fast.

80gb works fine for me, EQ. That's with about 5-6 3DS Max installations and one Maya, plus a few Adobe CS apps. No games at all though, something to consider.

Thanks you guys! If I do go with an SSD I wouldn't go any lower than 120GB for sure plus I do have games such as the sims, DC universe and Starcraft to think of but I would most likely install my games on my second much larger second hard drive plus I have to think about Zbrush as well. So what I think I might do is have my primary drive as an 120GB SSD and then have a second 700GB Hard drive

If you do get an SSD I'd recommend either of these (1st is the one I use, 2nd is the current high-end for sata based SSDs but I think it might be slightly less reliable):
