I guess they really know what the hell they're doing.
Damn, why couldn't Brawl have had that.
These were the teams that have been testing it right? At least I'm assuming, because they've stated that the best players from Dota were invited to do so.
I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary. - Gabe
From the news post.

so DOTA teams don't really need to practice with DOTA2
Rumors are that this isn't quite the case. Supposedly these teams have been in closed beta for a while, and DOTA2 has quite a few new things that they are keeping VERY quiet about, so that others have the least amount of time possible to steal/'be inspired by' their stuff.
This is what I've heard from the rumor mill, and this is Valve after all. I do expect more than a "graphics update" and a few bells and whistles.
Wtf did you remove!? :poly132:
Well color me green, but it'll also be cool to see a big unveiling on the 17th having never played it! Never seen such a high profile game kept under wraps so well for so long. Sure to be some cool surprises in store.
I call BS. Screenshots are needed here.
The fact that I'm on the HoN team has nothing to do with this, of course. It's all for purely scientific research purposes.
My main worry too. I don't care how many bells and whistles and community things they throw on it, i want an evolution of the genera. They have said time and time again this is a straight up remake of the original but amidst all the secrecy you can't help but hope for more!
At the very least there will be some cool unique new heroes, who else is playing the pyro first?
DEMOKNIGHT!
Haha, sorry no can do. I was told all I can say is whether or not I am in the beta (I am). That's all I got!
C'mon, you can show me. I promise I won't show everybody in the office and send the screenshots to the programming team and the owner of the company. :poly128:
It's like they peered into my heart of hearts for art direction
look at those stones!
I've been ogling these shots myself though . There's been a lot of criticism by the easily offended community of dota that the UI looks shyt, but i think the clean look and color scheme are pretty hot. Also a lot of talk that these new shots are months old as some of the features coming to light do not fit the screenshots.
Turning the ironwood branch into a bound bundle of sticks i find slightly amusing for some reason :P
But six skillboxes? I demand a scientific explanation for this!
PS. Why do they have to use that exact same map lay out...its the game play thats strong not the map...
*drool*
Read these shots are older? *shrug* I never played a lot of dota but i want to now.
the art in it is great, can't wait for real-deal shots.
Just a load screen, but it's a badass load screen. The overall quality of the visual style in this game is just mind blowing. Simple and fresh.
If you're itchin' for more spoilers here's the best link for now:

Some heroes have multiple use abilities and some passives, take Soul Stealer from HoN:
His first abillity is actually 3 use abillities with different range, then his next 2 normal abillities are passive and then an on activate ultimate.
If it ain't broke...
...add hats.
Great scientific explanation! And it makes sense now since two of them are grayed out leaving the ultimate to the far right, with doombringer only having four skills (guessing hellbringer in HON is his equalent)
Doombringer is not his equivelant, but he is:
Nevermore
As you can see, his first abillity is split into 3
I kinda feel the lighting/writing/sound team didn't go all the way on this one, but I like the designs
In-game looks incredible though.
