Been Sculpting lately and i'd really like some feedback from you guys :]
I'll start of with these two and probably upload some more later
First one is just a study I did, nothing special
And second one is a Polar bear Soldier (probably will be WWII themed) based on a speedpaint I did some time ago, gonna try putting some clothes on him tomorrow :]
-> the speedpaint I was talking about above :P

Do share in that case!

Anyway I gave the bear some clothes He is a real WW2 Soldier now
I'm planning on redoing the hands today they dont look beastlike enough ...
crits always welcome !
Is there any story behind it or is it weird for the sake of weird?
I'm not sure which I'd prefer..
Lookin' good!
Hmm It's actually a concept I came up with for my finals of user interfaces :P ( a subject at school)
We had to make up a game concept and then make the HUD for it
My concept was a war between Polar Bears and Pinguins haha.
They fight over the last drinkable water since the earth suffers from a new ice age :P
Glad you like it :]
sooo I've redone the hands and finished sculpting
If there's anything that isn't feeling right hit me ! :]
Next up : baking :P
Robat : thanks mate
@ kevlar jens : thanks, appreciated !

Right now the paw is a little more blocky and 'soft', it could still be defined more even though you're going for that stylised look. Looks sweet though, keep going!
Just had some issues with the hands because bears have all fingers alligned and I wanted to give him a thumb without making it feel weird haha
I'll give it a second look today thanks for stopping by !
achillesian: haha thanx man, was about to bake it though and dont think TF2 has normal maps, too bad
"achillesian: haha thanx man, was about to bake it though and dont think TF2 has normal maps, too bad"
Remember you can do good diffuse using normal map as a guide, but using only diffuse map. In ooooold times people don't use normal map :P.

So I baked The normals and applied some textures in the normals :]
Hope u like it, and ohyeah hmm my character is now 4224 tris but i'll probably add some fur/hair planes later so that number will grow ;]
looking great!
Will you be adding textures soon?
you're making really good progress so far!
just watch out with the paint on the helmt and the leather of the shoes!
it's easy to end up with plastick instead
so The bear is finished
here are the shots :
Specular is serious bad. In my opinion you do it in 15 minut and said this is ok, but it's ugly. First color specular is only used for conductors (inverted specular color is only used for some engines). Conductors in you model is in helmet and buttons, and that is all so everything other than that should be in grayscale. Next and propably last about specular - metal is hardest material to do, because you do in my opinion more then half your job in creating good specular map for it. Reason for color in reflection of metal is just polarization. I was searching for good tutorial for you, but it take me 10-15 minut and still I couldn't find :< so please believe in words above.
And propably that's it what I wanted to write you. It's good model, but when you fix specular it will be much better in realtime engine / engine.
@Sliterin: The problem is that I dont have any engine experience ...
The reason why I inverted the colors is because some time ago I did research around specular colors and I read on a website about photography that everything that does not guide electricity + the human skin has an inverted specularity in real life.
Thanks for your help, if u later come across a tutorial I am very interested pls do share :]
