Pixar has never done anything, anything at all related to celtic mythology. I'm super, super excited. I hope everyone in film has that Scottish accent.
Pixar... is that you? Are you sure... Because I just saw one of those sequels you said you would never do and I had to agree with you, it shouldn't of been done. Now you're tempting me with this? Best way to say "I'm sorry" EVER!
I was going to say "WOW-esque". This is actually a brilliant move by pixar, looks a bit more violent than most Disney movies but they're catering to an incredibly large and solid demographic, the MMO player.
Really I got a very "Tangled + Tinker Bell + Gritty Celtic" vibe from it. I guess now that you say it, the whole accent/time period is pretty similar. I was a little let down by how to train your dragon and so help me if they make Larry the Cable Guy a main character other than the bear that gets shot at the end of this trailer I consider boycotting pixar... heh. A little bit of Larry goes along... LONG way.
the narrator sounded like robert carlyle in some spots but not in others. there is only a partial cast up on imdb but it looks awesome. Cilly Connolly and robbie coltrane....awesome looks neat.
I think whoever said that Pixar intentionally targeted MMO players with this time and setting, is stretching it a bit there... It's just a grungier fairytale, from what I've seen so far. I wish it was still called 'The Bear and the Bow' Waiting for a proper trailer to pass any real opinion on it.
Yea it'll be awesome, A YEAR FROM NOW. Anyone else agree these teasers are getting shown ridiculously far away from the movie premiere?
It's only a year from now, 2012 considering it's "summer" already. But from the site it looks like they don't have a lot of concepts up which would lead to me believe they aren't far a long, but they could just not be showing the rest.
Something to keep in mind about Pixar is they dream up stories that they save away for later. Wall-E was thought up in 1995 and written 6 years before they released it. Suffice to say, Pixar does thing in advance.
Could be A YEAR AND A HALF FROM NOW if you live in Europe, every second Pixar film doesn't get a wordwide simultanious release, right? I heard its something to do with marketing budgets.
I'm really not sold on this.. I honestly thought the CG was a bit underwhelming, especially the wide landscape shots. Who knows, maybe when a bit more information is released, I'll change my mind.
Well, I'm sold. Come on, it's Pixar!! Ok... yes... there's a certain movie we shall not name in theatres right now... but I totally just blame that on the idiocy of John Lasseter. Otherwise, I'm excited for anything Pixar!!
The Cars movies are what Pixar produce to fill their coffers. As I understand, the merchandising from those films nets them more money than any of their more experimental efforts. Apparently they're really popular with the yung-uns.
For my part, I always considered Cars to be Pixar's weakest effort. Of course, that doesn't actually make it a bad movie, its still better than most other studios' efforts. It's just low-man on the totem pole for the best animated film producers in the business.
Brave is just a very short preview at the moment, but I'm already anticipating it. Going for a female as the primary protagonist is ballsy, and I like that. This is somewhat new territory for Pixar. (who's main protagonists have trended toward the masculine)
Looks cool I'm not totally sold on the character design yet. I need to see more. But since it's Pixar doing it I'm sure they'll make a ridiculously good job on it.

My kid adores cars to bits.. Ive seen it going on 200 times now.. and dont get me started on the Maters tales spin off from it ugh... also bought the dvd 3 times for the original film..
we cant take him anywhere .. as soon as he sees any of the cars characters on anything he goes nuts..
agree on cars, i enjoyed it but definetly my least favourite from pixar, will see what cars 2 is like. But the reviews say its much the same unfortunately.
You can't really blame Cars for anything at this point.
Considering how people drive in droves (no pun) to watch mediocre crap, and companies like Pixar and Universal, who try doing something 'worth-while' end up just doing fine or good at most, making share-holder shake in their boots and call to arms, causing several fold ins of child companies, they need to find other ways to rake in cash to finance their more proper projects.
As long as parents and kiddies spend cash on this stuff, and Pixar uses the money to finance projects like these, I'm all for it. We don't need another Scott Pilgrim fiasco, which took Chutulu away from me.
Actually, not to derail the thread, but I saw Cars 2 last weekend, and it would have been pretty good, if they hadn't revealed so much in the trailers. It was fun and funny. It's not on the same level as I usually place PIXAR movies, but it's still worth a view, especially if you have kids. The graphical work in it was pretty damn good too, especially the environments.
It may not be a theater 'must', but worth watch, even if you wait until video. We had a couple free tix from buying Disney blu-rays, so I got my money's worth
If they made Secret of Kells in 3D, with Pixar flava, the world will officially end from Hipsterude (and I would like it).
I loved TSOK, but Lordy, never mention that to a hipster or art student who thinks taking black and white pictures of a chair in mid afternoon = struggle of the middle class in a sitting common position of denomination, being overexposed by larger government.
To me that is not goodness. Toy Story is good and all but to be honest I am tired of those characters. Maybe it's just me.
I kind of felt that they should just leave it with #3. It was a great finale to the franchise. Then I saw Hawaiian Vacation (the short before Cars 2), and loved it.
I seriously doubt that there will be another Toy Story. And even if there is, its going to be four or five films down the line. What would it even be about? Toy Story 3 tied the story up nicely, giving a solid sense of closure. Making a fourth Toy Story film would be a mistake.
At the same time, I didn't think it was a good idea to make a sequel to Toy Story in the first place. But the second movie was quite good. And the third film actually shocked me with its quality. If anyone could manage to extend Toy Story into a fourth installment, Pixar could.
Still, I'm quite happy that they're taking things in such a different direction with Brave. I love it when they get all experimental. Wall-E was a big unknown, and they knocked it out of the park. Up was an absolutely ridiculous premise, and it was fantastic. Looking forward to how this one shapes up.
Did you see/read my link above? Or are you speculating that it won't happen, despite what Tom Hanks said?
Tom Hanks isn't the boss of Toy Story. He doesn't actually get to decide if a sequel is made, or when. I'm not going to take his word on the possibility of a fourth Toy Story film. And as I already pointed out, even if he is correct, it could be several years before we actually see Toy Story 4.

It reminded me of this Penny Arcade mini series that was pretty cool: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/6/10/
Boudica?
Yep, yep...although Poison drinking and Rape might be out of the question...
Fuck Soap, he was Jezz Torrent!

good things is not always financially successful
while cars, it has many kiddy character and mc-d can sell pixars merchandise which is profit more.
so its quite dilema

I'm pretty sure Kevin McKidd is from the North of England, and has a jordie accent. But yeah, his Scottish acting voice is no doubt spot on.

I know that right of the bat it doesn't look that similar but the mood seemed similar to me. Either way I am very excited about it.
I loved TSOK, but Lordy, never mention that to a hipster or art student who thinks taking black and white pictures of a chair in mid afternoon = struggle of the middle class in a sitting common position of denomination, being overexposed by larger government.
He's Scottish, apparently from Elgin.
Looking through imdb they've also got Robbie Coltrane and Billy Connolly.
Given how they handled the beggining of Up, I'm curious to see where Pixar go with this one.
