Figured I would try something complex, so I went with a harrier. First time to attempt a jet. Still a heavy WIP much more to be done. P90 is on the backburner atm for texturing between this and the traditional art im working on.
View port grabs please excuse floating bits.
Also spoke to Lroy and moving this out of the environmental thread since this is not an environment.

@Ihazard, does the cockpit still have that "melted glass" appearance? Tried to modify that a bit.

look what i found
Also this.
Thanks for stopping by. Are you certain the proportions are off? They match up pretty much 1:1 with the blueprint I am using. I suppose the blueprints could be wrong, but unlikely. Except for customizing the hard points to carry what I wanted e.g. fuel droptanks, its the same as the blueprint.
Great work
otherwise looks good.

seriously, nice progress so far. can't wait to see the low poly & texturing
The drop tanks? It all depends on what the hard point load out is on that particular jet. The harrier can have them, and the drop tanks are in 2 of the reference shots.
Here, what you pm'd me about:
(I know it's the 2 seater pictured, so ignore the cockpit area)
Thanks for stopping by and the paint over, much appreciated. I just checked with several other blueprints (from from http://www.the-blueprints.com/) for the
AV-8B Harrier II version of the jet, and they line up fine in side and front view. But looking at that reference, assuming its a AV-8B, I see some problems as you stated. Any other glaring issues besides the one shown that need improvement?
And many of your "floater" details look completely different? Tbh, I wouldn't bother with floaters for those lines. Just do them in Photoshop, at least you can ensure crisp 1px lines there.
Yeah I completely forgot about the separate post I made about paneling here http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85419 people were suggesting the same technique there. Do you use nDo to create the normal lines?
Reason I refrain a bit from nDo is it can get crazy heavy on my PC, like 6gb ram not cutting it...
anyway if you want some general tips to focus on to get this looking really good it's to go for accuracy, get all those shapes right, right now it might look good to the average polycount visitor, but if you want to get good at vehicles you have to grow a feel for this mechanical accuracy. Also really focus on crispness, get all the edges defined right, make sure the textures are sharp, etc...
Harrier is one of my favorite jet. keep going plz!
