This seems odd after all of the positive press the game received. One would think Bethesda would have some extra cash to throw round on slightly riskier projects after the massive success of Skyrim.
Dang that looks fun, but what does it offer other than a repeatable event (go collect a bounty)
Couldnt that be said about any FPS? You just shoot people in COD et al. At least in this game, which like others was the only game I was really looking forward to, you have a choice.
This really breaks my heart...the trailer and gameplay demo had me so amped. I have been dying to see a blade runner/heavy metal inspired sci fi game for a while. I loved the whole interaction with alien scumbags and chase mechanics they were going for.
If only there was a website like Kickstarter, but for polls, that was actually referred to and trusted by the people that make stupid decisions like this. I'm sure you could get a few hundred thousand 'signatures' that would go some way to keeping something like this in production.
Hell, even if they went through Kickstarter, and charged the full admittance for the shipped game once it was released. Get it by post like.
it'd be interesting to see whether a project of this scope would work via kickstarter.. certainly a different budget-league than schafer's adventure game.
It would, but it would also put up a new issue, where the Dev's need to cater to certain specifics from the 'old' fans, like Portals, American-Indians, Spirit Walking and etc...
Good or bad? I don't know, but I know one thing, too many cooks ruin a good meal.
Actually forget what I said. Something like kickstarter would be a horrendous idea for this. Publishers like Activision would start cancelling projects left right and centre and hold us to ransom.
If the world blows up in the mean-time I'm going to be PISSED!
Is the development staying with the same studio? I hope so.
Shotguns articles states they they simply are now moving foreward, Kotaku, being the cunty site that it is, already started rumors that about how 'they might have moved to a cheap chinese outsourcer so they can make it linear, COD like and stiff".
Anyone know what kind of margins Publishers are getting?, I heard it was bad but I still don't have any frame of reference for it. If beasts like Double-Fine and ID software can make critically acclaimed title after critically acclaimed title and still be treading water it makes me wonder.
Laying people off because you want a better deal with your publisher is not cool.
Didn't they start off with a different publisher and end up with Zeni later? It could be that during that 'transfer' phase, some miscommunication happened, and the contract go lost between that.
I mean lets face it, the game industry doesn't know how to keep things organized or efficient.

if it's true I hope this doesn't end up being a theme with Bethesda, what with them having acquired Id software and all
Not good news. Hope anyone out of work lands on their feet.

So yeah, take it for what you will.
That's not cool!
