This is where I shall post my progress, quick sketches, or just random stuff I did at the time. Critiques are welcomed and comments are also good. Any advice you may have will help improve my skills.
Are you creating the gears by starting with a polygon pipe? That generally helps with symmetry, although another thing you could do is create a small piece of the gear with a tooth at the end and moving the pivot to where the center of the gear will be. After that, you would duplicate---> special (in maya) and having the angle of rotation equal to 360 degrees divided by the number of desired pieces. By doing that, the center of the gear should be symmetrical.
I've actually did that gear using duplicate special on a single piece. The real issue with this is that, while it helps keep it even all the way around, I can't make the 4 pillars without combining and merging the entire thing first.
Luckily, I managed to find a work around it by cutting the entire thing into a quarter, add the pillars and duplicate special.
It looks like you've made some real progress since the last time I have seen your thread. You might want to start thinking about UV maps. Keep up the good work!

Having difficulty figuring out a way to make the holes even on the inside.
I hope this has helped you.
Keep working on it, and remain optimistic!

Thanks for helping me out.
And more watch construction.
I forgot to post yesterday, silly me.
Testing out the UVs.
More progress on the character.
See this circle:
When I rotate it, is somehow distorts and looks like this:
Does anyone know what is causing this?
And now, for some fractal designs using maya.
here are the textures, still adding more to it.
Part of a method of placing hi-rez models onto low rez objects
