So, new Hitman is pretty official it seems! Despite rumours that it'll tie in to a movie sequel and will feature a bearded/hairy 47, I am excited! Loved the previous games to bits.

Teaser:

Also fun things about that barcode at the end, invert that thing and scan it with a barcode scanner for your smartphone or something and you get [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0022OKK8E/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=redditj9-20"]THIS ITEM[/ame]:
Drawstring Double Dong Dildo Bag in Starry Night Blue 15 length x 5 width - Adult Sex Toy Storage."
Oh IO, that's so great.
Oob6F.png <--- just scan and see for yourself. Thanks Reddit

Oh and on the Amazon link, 1 review:
This item has been with my though a lot,

Amusement Parks, a multi-story villa, casinos, even opera rehearsals. Very sturdy product.

Came in very usefully at my Dance With The Devil party.
Do ho ho hooo

EDIT: It's also the barcode that has been on 47s head since forever, as it also links to "Barcode Tattoo" and "The barcode tattooed on 47s head".

I can shamefully admit, that i have never finished a Hitman game. But, I'm willing to give the new one a try. I'll keep this in my radar.

Holy shit, for the first time in my life I actually felt guilty seeing him kill that police officer. Before this every "henchman" npc would have really stupid dialog that made you hate them, but these guys really sound like ordinary people.

Reminded me of Breaking Bad at first, then Kill Bill. Good trailer. Anyone else find the killer nuns to be a bit too silly for the Hitman universe though? And why have them in the game at all if they are killed off in one go... I guess they aren't bosses that sporadically show up ala MGS4? Also I wonder why he had to slice his barcode off...

So.. After looking more and more at footage and info released by this game I just, don't know.

Kyd is not composing the score.(what.)
Bateson is not voicing 47.(What the hell, he said himself he was offered the role but Io just never contacted him again afterwards)
    Vivienne McKee is not Diana.

The focus seems to be more on cinematic experiences that lead you by the nose rather than the freeform we're used too and.. What the hell is up with that trailer? I mean you've fought and done some weird shit in the previous Hitman games, but a Tarantino Esque troupe of S&M nuns?
    What?
Also heard that pretty much everyone who did the older Hitman games left Io, oh well..

At least they got the violence right, I guess. And the trailer is very well made, the visuals of the game are also incredible.

It's just a shame it looks a lot like your average third person shooter now, with some stealth mechanics. Oh well, I'll wait for reviews and a demo.

That trailer was embarrassing, quite why or WOULD nuns be wearing tight PVC miniskirts and lingerie to go and assassinate is mind boggling.

We'll just never move away from the image of sad lonely gamers sitting at home wanking with their own tears over slutty nuns with guns. Shame.

Even the model of 47 looks different, no longer based on Bateson. It seems like they tried to push the character design to look more like Tim Olyphant did in the (awful) Hitman movie.

This is kind of how I feel about Splinter Cell: Conviction. That game had some really fun elements, but it definitely got away from the series' origins with stealthy, patient gameplay. Judging from this trailer, it looks like IO really wants us to think of Hitman differently - feels like a Zack Snyder/Quentin Tarantino inspired action film, not a stealth/disguise/deception vibe.

Great article about the latest trailer: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-05-31-cant-we-discuss-this-like-adults?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=european-daily

Key bit: It's not the fact that there are nuns in the game who then turn out to be sexy nun assassins in suspender belts. You want sexy nun assassins in your game trailer? Be my guest. It looks ridiculous, and I don't see them getting much assassinating done while wearing those heels, but if you think your target audience is the demographic slice of people who get turned on by poorly CG rendered assassins in habits and stiletto heels, go for it. Nor is the issue the fact that Agent 47 commits violent acts against women. He's a hitman, assassins are attacking him, he kills them. That's not the problem.

The problem is the interaction between those two things. The thought process of the creators of this trailer is naked for the world to see. Gamers like sexy women. Let's have sexy women, and let's make them sexy nuns because that's edgy. You know what else is edgy? Having the dark anti-hero kill women, rather than the usual faceless male soldiers and thugs. That'll get headlines. Let's do that.

One of two things happens at that point. Either the marketing team managed to completely not realise that the interaction between "sexy" and "violent death" might not be an entirely comfortable one; or they did realise, and went ahead anyway, which labels them as an utterly unpleasant and irresponsible bunch of sociopaths. I'm going with option A. I prefer to see the good in people, even if that means thinking they're a little bit dim.

"What has disturbed many people is that the Hitman trailer appears to strongly sexualise and fetishise not just its disposable female characters, but also the actual act of killing them"

"What has disturbed many people is that the Hitman trailer appears to strongly sexualise and fetishise not just its disposable female characters, but also the actual act of killing them"

On that last note, the sexualization of females in the Hitman games has been there since the first one, the only "strong" woman in the series seems to be Diana, who gives 47 Contracts.

The fact that 47 brutally kills women dressed as sluts isn't weird though.
The character is after all a cloned emotionless killing machine, placed in a universe where seemingly all women dress scantily and have F-cups... huh..

I guess you could attribute it to artistic style or something, maybe 47 lives in some weird semi hedonistic universe where feminism never existed. It's weird but sex and violence seem to go hand in hand in the Hitman universe..

There is nothing wrong about killing women in videogames, naked, dressed or otherwise. Because it's not wrong to kill men either in them either, and you kill and can kill a lot of men in the Hitman series, infact most of them are, some are gay, some are pedophiles, some are underclothed, some are in full military gear.

You can kill hundreds of civilians in that Mardi Gras mission, so, in essence I don't see a problem with what the trailer is or what it shows, other than it is very UN-Hitman like in regards to story and theme.

I read the comments before I watched the trailer and I was under the impression that the trailer was too lighthearted or something...

Then I watched the trailer and i realize that the problem isn't the Nuns, subject matter or anything like that. It's the tone conveyed by the editing (example the slow mo nose bash 47 does on the nun), it's all wrong.

I've played all the games save for the very first and the key thing that I've taken from the them is that 47 doesn't bask in the glory of what he does, which is the vibe I'm getting from the trailer slow mo brutality and all.

He's a man genetically engineered to do one thing and one thing only. Assassinate people. He does it quick clean and quite. Granted the player can go full psycho and slaughter everyone but the goal of the game is to be a silent assassin. 47 doesn't doesn't love it, he doesn't hate it. The character just accepts it without emotion.

I don't get that vibe from the nun trailer... Or that hospital one from a while back now that I think about, I dunno he seems really direct lately and not very "silent".

i dunno what they're up to with this game. seriously seems like they're going for the bland assassin pushed to the edge thing. which we've only seen a thousand times in movies but agent 47 is never supposed to get cornered. that's his whole thing. that he can always find the way out. really seems like they've killed the character of hitman games. hope im wrong about this

One thing I don't understand after watching these videos, is why we are supposed to ignore that the blood isn't realistic? You can shoot/stab a person, then drag them across the floor and put them inside a bin, but magically, no blood smears? Or you stab a person, they show blood on their clothing, but when you switch to it, it's magically clean! Why go to the trouble to make the rest of the world so realistic and then break the rules of reality with seemingly no good reason?

Although I agree, I suspect it's to keep disguises usable, otherwise whenever you took one from someone everyone else would basically see through it, what with all the blood. You could get around that by killing with poision and garottes etc. but maybe they don't want to restrict the game feature that much?

Blood trails would be good though, you could even use that to setup traps if enemies would follow the trail.

PS. I don't think his head tilts far enough to the left when he walks.

    blood pools and trails meh.
real reality breaker is hitmans speed in changeing clothes, and the fact they always fit perfectly. can't count the amount of times i've just managed to change clothes and hide the body just in time in hitman games. id say its that at some point you gotta draw the line between simulation and fun and for a game like hitman id say it more fun that way.

THIS THIS THIS A MILLION TIMES THIS.

My GOD. In the previous hitman games it always annoyed me when AI never seemed to care about huge blood smears, never followed them. They come a cross a ton of ejected brass from a gun? Nope, not gonna notice it. A very fine looking expensive tuxedo lying in the middle of the room where a guard was earlier next to a pool of blood? NUTHIN WRONG HERE.

I very seriously wanted the AI in the next Hitman games to notice this crap, if you shot above someone, the bullet hit and the dust from it fell on someones head, I want them to notice (particle effect created by bullet impact triggers a certain AI reaction if it hits enemies or lands within a certain vicinity to them or something), as well as probably consider tonnes of blood on the floor something to be concerned about. Heck they could even play with this mechanic if they put another mission in a slaughterhouse. Same goes with randomly discarded weapons and ejected shells etc, just, I don't get why adding another layer of depth and difficulty to the AI has yet to be done.

On another note: Still looks damn pretty, and I'll still get it :(

Didn't you hear how he loudly proclaimed himself the KING OF CHINATOWN while following 47? Clearly the walls themselves bend to his will.

Also am I the only one who finds it wierd that the dev himself keeps calling 47 "Hitman"? :S He was never called that in the other games, he was always referred to by his production nr. (47)

Actually in the game before this (Blood Money), Im pretty sure they did notice blood pools and you did leave blood trails that the AI did follow. However if the trail lead to a freezer or something that you had his the body in they wouldnt investigate it.

That gameplay trailer was dope, definitely felt Hitman. i guess it's just some of the marketing that feels off tangent. Still cant wait for the game!
