Hello people,
For a while now I've been working full time on a 3D racing game running on my own 3D engine in Flash 10.
Well it's almost finished, so here is a rolling demo preview lap.
It's been my mission all along to develop a proper 3D game in Flash running at 60fps, something resembling an actual console game. Here it is.

Before releasing the game, I'm looking to get some sponsorship.
I have a plan of action for the game, which includes in game sponsorship, more like a console game.
I'm interested in facebook as an option, but probably not the game portals, as I don't think they would be appropriate for the type of flash game that it is.
I'd love some marketing tips from fellow posters with experience in the general web game area.
Cheers,

I am interested in uploading it to facebook though, so I'm interested in feedback from anyone who has created a facebook game.
The main thing I saw in your video is that the gameplay is gonna need work. Not sure how you handle the drifting, but I'm fairly certain that the drifting in Outrun is "on-rails" kind of thing, as it's very hard to drift too much or too little in that game. The only control you have there is some light steering to avoid traffic. I think they probably have the car "stick" to track splines/direction when drifting, allowing you to deviate only slightly from it.
Sure it's holding the player hand more, but your game looks hard to the point of frustration.
I also think the road should be wider in most occasions, you hit the sides a lot. Changing the drifting gameplay would remedy this a bit though.
Also, give that car more torque! It looks annoying to see the cars just creep uphill...
I'm sure they would be very interested in pushing this game to sponsors in a big way. Really high-profile sponsored games can make tens of thousands between primary and secondary licenses, so I think you should consider that sort of distribution in addition to running it on your own site (sponsorships don't have to be exclusive!).
I know Steambirds made a killing in partnership with ArmorGames (who I can also highly recommend working with. Daniel is a super nice guy).
Email me at: evan@pixelante.com if you want me to formally hook you up with FGL, I have relatively close ties there. I won't charge (just remember me when you start doing awesome Molehill stuff )
Pixel, I was awaiting your reply
That sounds good indeed, I appreciate the offer. I've kind of been wondering about portals etc, and thinking that maybe my game would be better exclusively on it's own site or facebook, but I am certainly open to negotiation.
One thing that could be a problem is that having this game as a single SWF is not possible, it needs to load in the model and texture files dynamically. I guess an option would be for other sites to only host the main file, and load everything else from my server, which would almost certainly mean a server upgrade
I'll email you tomorrow Pixel
Cheers,
Joe
Any more opinions on the demo?
