I agree with bbob. Modeing wise its looking great. Texturing wise it looks like you tried to create some wear and tear on the surface but it's not convincing enough yet. Mostly because in certain places you have a lot and in other places you have nearly none. Unless you want to go for the team fortress like cartoony style, I'd amp up the scratches and maybe even add some dirt and rust. (maybe you're getting to that stage as I write this message, I don't know)
Thanks for the feedback, I can see your points and I'll have them in mind as I continue with the texturing.. As for the dirt and grime, I think I'm gonna do them as detail maps since the main images might not have enough res to show scratches and rust clear enough.
keep in mind peoples that metal really comes into its own once the spec is dropped on it. that said i think if you metal was scratched and had some of the paint peeling off that the underlying surface would be a metallic color, not white. would like to see more color variation in your diffuse, at the moment its pretty flat i think. try desaturating your textures once you have the diffuse laid down and see what your contrast range is like.

I'll try that.. The metal scraps are actually projected from a raw metal texture, reason yu can't see it so well is that it's reflective and reflecting the vray sun which turns it pure white... A thing that of course will be fixed when I do the final render
Thanks for the kind words guys, such a great feeling to actually finish something for once.
As Uncle pointed out, this will stay purely high poly, mostly because of the project needing closure, but also because of the way it is atm without any "real" textures.
it really did come out great, for me though the only disappointing bit is that you painted on the texture details, I don't mind the painted shine, smoke, and background, but all the scratches and logos really downs it for me, you did an amazing job doing so though, I truly thought it was textured because it was so well executed!

Can't wait to see the others!
Yeah I agree, it's kinda of a bitter sweet victory since so much is faked.. But I'm happy with the result none the less. This project also resulted in alot of experience in making this kind of models and how I should handle texture work in the future.
Just got the news that my image has been accepted on 3DTotal gallery, which also means it has recieved a 3DTotal Excellence Award.. I'm super happy at the moment, the reception of the result has been mindblowing! The image is scheduled to be uploaded on wednesday the 6th.
Thanks to everyone at polycount that helped me reach the end result.. And of course also Nijes and Damik who been giving me feedback all the way through the project.
