That piece from Cheeks is one of my all time favorites. I assume you have seen the model that is previously modeled after this piece? it has some awesome poiniters and paintovers from the artist.

hehe Thanks everyone. I am pretty excited to be in this one now that I am in it.
Here are a few of my initial sculpts just to get a grip on the proportions and feel for how I want him to be. I know I am using CHEEKS version of Ironman but it is really only for inspiration on style. As with most of my stuff I want simple clean shapes (just like Mr cheeks). This is after all a re-design not a copy of any already awesome concept. I could never do his work justice anyway . But whatever enough talk...it is time to trim my eyebrows and put on my art shorts.
I wanna try out a few more shapes but I think I am sold on a big chunky character with shortish legs OR longish legs. At the moment I think I prefer the dude on the left.
superb man, I can feel this piece already. I would make the head smaller to get a nice small, big, small rythm from the head down to his feets. I love this man. Looking forward to further updates!

@Buckster: Thanks . Good call with the chunky calves, I ended up Adding more to the thighs which does a similar thing (I think). However I will probably add a bit to the claves as well.
Ok so I have added a little and taken out a little. Started looking at colour and all that jazz. Still a heap to figure out and I really need to fix up those hands... they are killing me.
Really cool man, I am liking this more and more. I really dig the dynamic forearmes even though I might like a tad thinner wrists but by now I think you realize that is a fetich of mine. I woule love to see the angular chestplate around the chest light to integrate more with the current flow of the armour. Since it is overlapping the neck plate that has smooth curve it seems to stop the general flow of the design. It does create a focuspoint although but I think the chestlight is enough for that ^^

Keeping them updates coming! The portions are doing the job, but I would look at the neck something is throwing me off and the hands will come with time

Love the stylization on this guy! I think the arms still look a bit long, and the torso could be a bit larger (going with a bit of that Johnny Bravo look) but overall the bulk and feel of this guy is spot on.
@Arkadius: Thanks man. Yeah DWV entry will have to wait a little bit but I intend to finish both (at least I hope I can) I am just going to handle the hands later, but I want the neck to be made up of tubes and pipes the some how resemble neck muscles. If that does not work I will have to re-think.

Decided to stop concepting and see what magic happens during modeling. So far I have jammed a Jet pack in his back, I still need to work on it but I will wait till I get the rest of the stuff in before I finilise it, I do dig it but I will have to wait and see.
The more angular calves look much better. It kind of makes me want to see more angles in the rest of the model. Maybe in the arms a bit more or the shoulder pads. Possibly a sharper chin.
@seven: Thanks man. Yeah I am trying to go half way have some sharper angles mixed in with some softer ones. It may or may not work but I am going to give it go

Update. Working on the body. Still need to do a heap of stuff but he is getting there. I have not done too much hard surface stuff before so this is fun. Still want to play a bit with proportions. Perhaps give him a weapon.

This be rocking, Duncan! I'd suggest fatting up his thumb a bit though. It's usually the widest finger and on your guy it's the slimmest.

Been a while but I have him in ZBrush (not that I am really going to be using it) Got the eyes in. I was un-decided about the eye size for a while but I decided to rock the little ones. I have started meshing the low poly and doing test bakes as I go. I should be ready to smash the texture soon. I hope by the end of the week.
I like the tiny eyes, but they seem to be too far apart. Looking at the front view, they're pretty far from where his eyes would be under the helmet. Other than that, though, digging it.
Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. I have tried the eyes a few different sizes and positions but settled on these ones. I may change them a bit later but for the moment I am digging the vibe I get from them. Anywhere else and they just look a bit bland to me.
It has been quite a while since my last update so here we go. I have finally got all my AOs and normal maps going. Got him into Marmoset and I am starting to get the Diffuse sorted out. More to come.

I would just adjust the inner calf so it ends up below the outer one to make it more believable just looking at the anatomy.
