Creature Bust - WIP

Hey Everyone,

This is my first Attempt at a creature bust,Ive been working on the bust for a couple days now. I would really like to improve my Zbrush skills and Polycount rocks so I figured I'd toss it up here and get see if I could get some feedback and crits.:)

You've strayed from your ref quite a bit which is fine, however i prefer the originals eye are better, there is something about those teeny beady eyes that makes this creature extra scary for me. Other than that you're doing well, keep it up - too bad you can't find the original artist, little good it did him to use that form of watermark haha

Alright I'll change the eyes, but for now its bedtime . Its crazy I don't know what happened I swear I found the Concept on Deviant art but I searched for almost and hour and could find it.

Small update, changed the Eyes to match the concept better.

Nice progress. Sea creatures generally have a layer of blubber/whatever that conceals features, and extra smooth skin so there's less friction in the water. The muscles in the reference are larger volumes, while you're putting in additional grain. It just doesn't feel right for the character. Keep it up.

Oooh yeah the eye looks way better, also @Rojo i already tried using that for him and it didn't come up with anything, in fact it's barely been finding anything at all for me lately, either it's going down the tubes or i'm searching for increasingly rare images.

@ Rojo I see what your saying ill try and smooth the skin out the skin more. Should I keep the general muscle structure I have right now or is that also not working?

Small Update again, Ive been working on this today. Ive been trying to rework the muscle structure to match a sea creature more, also trying to follow my reference for the muscle as well. I dont know if I've done it right I'd really like know what people think.

This is terrible. LOL joking. Looking good. One crit I have is that right now the hole in the ear looks like he is either frankenstein or wearing ear buds.

Nice work so far man, the ears should probably be straight though makes the difference between fish/sharp-like creature and weird alien thing.

Your call however if you wanna follow the concept more closely
