ey guys, I haven't decided what I will be doing with Zero yet..but i definitely want him to be half classic as well :D perhaps include a darker side like Iori from King of Fighter, psycho version with battle scars. Some of the inspirations will going to be from Ironman and the SCII Marine suit (quality-wise) with all the fun pipes and inner machinery =) Cant wait to get this started! WOooooo!! lolol

    Hey guys, I did a quick paint over from a existing illustration to add some of the classic Zero elements and a couple new things to see how it looks.. The high poly version will probably develop further as I go too, let me know what you guys think!

    It's looking decent but I think you can really push him a bit further, currently he just looks that same as normal zero with a bunch of detail, the silhouette is almost identical with the originals. Try to push the silhouette a bit more and try experimenting with changes that could go well with the character.

    The area that seems the most similar to the original are the face and the buster. Maybe try doing something to make the buster different, maybe try adding normal weapon elements to it. or even maybe get some design ideas from District 9 like this...

    Maybe make the hair more like liquid metal spines or something and maybe add some more robotics to his face.

    Could add some rocket rollerblades or something with spinning lazer saws on them.

    Overall yours look good it just looks too much like the original. Can't wait to see how you flesh it out more though! :D

    Thanks!! yeah I did that intentionally, its basically gunna be a higher res version. Also I didn't want to over hulk it out into something that's not Zero anymore, if that makes sense haha XD As for the Hair and Buster, yeahh I'll add something onto that for sure =)

    Just uploaded some color variations :D I'll have to start the modeling process later tonight and see how it goes. What do you guys think of the proportions? or should i revert it to a more realistic scale?

HAHA yea..theres like 3 other megaman/zero entries i think, gotta make sure we're unique XD oh nonoon ahahah its jus for modelling purposes i guess, it will all be tied together. I also want some plates to open up and hav the inner cores revealed too! ill do that in the 3D process tho =)

    Just did some re-scaling on the proportions:
    I shrunk the head down and made the buster a bit smaller too..it was soooo exaggerated haha

    Which one do you guys prefer?

    Heres my progress so far after work for the last 2 days :D
    Just did some gray blocking and getting the proportions down before going nuts with the details

    Worked on some mid details for a few hours after work again today..
    Im gunna hav to add crazy wires/bolts and such in the very end too
    As for the panel lines, I will probably paint them in the texturing process and convert them into my normal map =)
    You guys will notice my shapes are pretty bulky, cuz i wanted to make sure they read well from a distance..so its not like a sausage arm with busy noise all over it...Anyways, theres gunna be plenty more updates soon this weekend! :D

    It looks great, very nice detail. I agree with Shadownami92's suggestion, and the only thing that bugs me with the current design are the thighs. Zero's original designs have very slender cylinder shapes leading to the knee, and in yours I think it just looks too bulky and awkward. Maybe if you just shrank the thigh armor a bit it would look more fitting. Then again, it may end up looking too close to the classic Zero design, which is something to consider.

    Good job with the modeling, I'm looking forward to the finished piece!

    Lookin' sweet! I like that it's close to the original in terms of overall shapes, because it lets me know what character it's supposed to be. I really like the dark color scheme overall.

    It seems like some of the details aren't quite as chunky as the concept, which is something I liked. The shoulder pads and knee spikes especially feel kind of weak.

    @Siliqk, Thanks!!! yeahhh the thigh scale was on my mind a bit too..do you think its cuz its too short?

    @JMYoung, oh yeah i totally hear ya! thanks for point that out btw! I will bring back that loose piece on the shoulderpad back down to make things tighter and more intact if thats what you mean =) as for the knee spike, ill make the silhouette more simplified so it looks more durable too

    looks awesomeee! I actually quite like the silhouette of those chunky thighs. Maybe you could have them as separate plates on the side as well? and keeping a more slender thigh on the inside as if they were being protected, would make cool layering too!

    Glad to see another marvel vs. capcom. Not many of them in this competition haha. Looks great man. Very strong silhouette and i love the details. Your portfolio is unbelievably impressive as well.

    Hey guys, here's another daily update for you guys:
    The mask covering the face is just place holder right now..cuz i dont know if the anime face would work, but I'll give it a try later haha
    I'll work on the hand tomorrow too, and add some hydraulics here and there too :D as well as for the elbow and feet..not really digging those at the moment.

    Hard surfaces are lookin' good! I liked the more exaggerated proportions of the concept and early blockout better. It felt more balanced to me. The head, especially, seems too small right now.

    I also prefer the proportions of the earlier concept. Overall this is awesome though. Great design and detail. Its as if Zero was redesigned as a Gundam or something. Also, its possibly because there are no hands, but the design of the arms is throwing me off. Im not getting a defined elbow anywhere.

    yeahhh....I'll need to add a proper mechanism for the joints..I'll add a elbow pad thing in there too so its more clear, and it looks too thin and weak as well.. Oh ya totally! this model was inspired with gundam designs :D I wanna add decal numbers and stuff in the end too..

    Wow, this is amazing! I hope it all bakes down well, because right now you've got a lot of excellent hard surface detail going on. Classic red is definitely my favorite, makes me want to play a mega man game in this style. :)

    Wow this is looking seriously kickass, I love all the detail especially on the legs.

    That being said i feel that the elbow really needs to be reworked it feels very awkward.
    It feels like the upper arm is much too long and the forearm is much too short.
    In addition I would really like a mechanical joint instead of the weird rubber tube thing you have now

    other than that it's looking really awesome and I can't wait to see the lowpoly

    @Heavyj, Thankssss! :D yeahhh the white looks good, the bolts pop out more it seems LOL!! but then it doesnt read Zero to most ppl unfortunately i guess..

    @d1ver, ewwwww HAHA!! thankss for sharing that -____- LOL!! but yeaa i wanted to keep areas less detailed like the back of the leg so its not all noise in the end.

    @mifflefish, Thankss dude!! yahh i totally see that after posting this update..i think the armsock+buster forearm is throwing ppl off (seems like double elbows) the part that has wires is where the joint is. I will push the buster up and align it better later today so its straight from elbow to wrist. But yaaaaa, Thanks for pointing these things out man! really appreciate it!! I'm a huge fan of this character, i want to be able to push this as far as i can into the next-gen look ahaha

    Alright heres a post of the final so far, I adjusted some minor things here and there, fixed the elbow a bit too..I'll be working on the low poly cage sometime this week, let me know what you guys think:
    (The angle on the upper legs will be rotated in more too..kept them a bit further apart cuz the boots were so huge LOL)

    Pretty damn awesome. The red one is definitely the one with the most pop, the most in your face. Good choice.

    I love the details, although I gotta say it's a bit much in some places. Like the elbows for instance, they're really hard to read. And I'm not sure why detail that area? Unless you want people to look there for some reason. If those parts were simplified, and then areas surrounding the big V shape on the helmet had more details, it would make more sense. The eye would be drawn there on the spot, and that's where the action is at.

    Just my 2cents.

    @BigJohn, Thanks for the critiques! Im going to be painting in tech lines in the normal maps after too. As for the details, I tend to make them in recessed areas I guess? But yea I see what you mean though..

    love the details, man! I wish I had 1/3 of your skillz :D

    I tend to agree about some of the 'industrial' detail. Mainly the dark cables running on the outsides of the shins which feel like they sorta disrupt the otherwise pretty sleek red exterior of the lower legs/feet.
    I'm not entirely sure if I'm a huge fan of the small joints, specifically the knee+hips connections but that's just a stylistic thing

    I was thinking about choosing Zero before seeing you snagged it, but I'm glad I didn't now haha. It's looking badass!

    looking awesome dude. so glad to see you on the Brawl! Really liking your direction, if i had to say anything its that it's lacking a few rest areas to break up the industrial noise on the paneling, but man alive did you ever do a good job.
