I wanted to make him look a bit more recognizable, especially in the head. I'm not sure if I want a leather mask or not. Also I'm not sure on what to do with the back wing things. I can't think of anything that would be able to spread out and also fould back in. Maybe I will make him more magical (God Gundam does get glowy hands) and make the wings into a type of cape?
I'm liking the middle head with a partial mask the most. I'm going to rethink the ornimental part at the top to look a bit more like something that existed, going to try and find some examples.
If only real medieval knights had this kind of equipment, I'd be a lot more interested in history. I hope you're gonna dirty this guy up some... I know the gundam ref is super clean, but any good knight is bound to have some battle damage.
Chandler: I'm definitely going to add soem grunge and battle scars. Once I'm finished making all the pices I'll bring it over to mudbox and add some finer detail.
Bwample1: Thanks for the reference. I was planning to add more detail to it, but I like those leaf prints, I might try to incorperate that into it as well. I agree that it can be larger also.
Awesome work on this armor, when I first read the concept I was like, hmm maybe, bu after seeing all the armor shots I'm sold - this looks really good.
Running very low on time :[ I'm gonna have to rush a bit. The low poly is just about finished. I have about 1000 tris left so if theres any places you think need some more, please tell. I hope the bake goes easy...

@Ryswick : i'm not sure if escaflowne had a fighter style game.
suburbbum: Heh ya I noticed i didn't see any other gundams, and I wasn't feeling too inspired by other fighter characters.
Ryswick: Thats a good idea, they do look medievalish, in a different way than I intended, but still worth a look for some ideas.
Firebert: Oh wow that is awesome!
Purplepaint: I think he means for ideas of how to reinterpret gundam.
Ok so heres a drawing I made today to get my general idea across. I'm going to go more indepth before I start modeling though.
I made a base scuplt to start armoring.
just a thought

OK the armor is just about finsihed, just have the sword and scarbard to do. then off to mudbox!
OK I started banging it up in mudbox. I still gotta convert the underbody into a mostly cloth and a bit of leather.
Ps. How do I add the link to this thread in my signiture? I'm not sure how to do it without just posting the ugly url.
OK I made the under cloth. Almost done on the high poly.
EDIT: I just noticed some how the plate on the chest piece andthe strap on the shouldr pad got ballooned...ignore that for now...
