Very nice work, the caricature of famous action heads obviously plays to your strengths. I really enjoy the strength of emotion/humor in your presentation of the character as well. My only hope is that you play with making him close to pitch black as the original sprite suggests--you can do a lot with specular and what not to hopefully retain the detail but keep it very dark like the original. In any case, really looking forward to the finished entry, you've done well in picking a character and bringing your own version to it.
Thank you everybody, for all your comments. Your support is very welcome!
Long time no update, but I think it's time to finish this guy now. I made some modifications on colors, based on Gauss comment. I think he's right, I should make him closer to original. What do you guys think?
And there we go! Those are my finals. Considering I'm not a 3d guy, I feel very proud of the end result. I used no render for the final, given that we are in a game art competition. These images are just Maya viewport grabs, with BGs added on Photoshop. For shading, I used the great BRDF shader for Maya by Brice Vandemoortele and Cedric Caillaud.
I'd like to thank all the guys that visited my thread and leaved a comment to me. It was hard to complete, but I did it! Thanks for support and tips, Polycounters!

Now is the time for pose this guy and deliver the final images. What variations do you prefer, first or second?
