Painted over a really rough base, which is pretty dumpy so I'll be sure to improve upon that in the 3d. I'm sure it'll change lots but I'm going to start the threedee now I think! Or maybe some feather tests...
Been slacking off since the concept stage, but started sorting out the body (still wip) and chucked a few block in bits at this evening. Going for a more chunky physique compared to the original, which I think fits the theme better.
Dont want to leave getting some nice feathers done last, so I'm moving on to them next, then build the helmet and after carry on working my way down the body
Ive been putting this off a bit, but I did some feather tests this evening. I didn't think sculpting was the way to go really, so I made a couple of simple feathers in max, cut them up and duplicated them about.
Sent them into mudbox and took some top down renders using the different viewport filters.
Then took to renders into photoshop to combined and do a quick diffuse and finally make it tile. I'm thinking I'll use this for the bulk of the feathers, then make some unique ones to spread about.
This is just a test atm, so textures and the alpha are pretty much Placeholders.
Corinne + Gavku, thanks appreciate the comments!
Akacg, cheers, hopefully I can improve upon them in the final versions Your Brawl link doesnt seem to be working for me
This is looking great. Really really love the direction you're taking. Feathers are looking good, would be awesome to see some iridescence in the spec for those feathers. Refer to rv_el's 0.0.0 bust. Feathers were top notch in that one.
Thanks guys.
Bbox, thanks I'll definately use that as inspiration when I work on the feathers some more That's a cool model.
Worked on the helmet, the feathers will slot into the groove at the back.
Moving onto the other bits now, perhaps the cape. Going to come back to this and work on cleaning up the carvings a bit. -
Nice headpiece, looks like real stone. I can only imagine it would start to feel heavy, wearing that all day. The designs capture the feeling great though.
hmm....u know I thought it looked like wood...not stone. the carvings support that. plus the whole helmet can't be stone once u texture it it should be more apparent. anyway, love ur rendering and craft overall! Keep up the good work
Wizo - Keyshot. Ita a great standalone renderer, really fast as well. Cool for presenting sculpts as it doesnt seem to care much about the amount of tri's.

Going for tribal body paint instead of a suit, not sure what to do for the cape yet.
Cheers

with the palette you are using and the patchwork armor, i am getting a monster hunter vibe, which i think is pretty badass. cool.
Aren't the feet a bit to massive tho?
Wahlgren - Rofl ye they are a bit, I'll check them over tomorrow
Cheers Duncan, liking your Ironman by the way

The surprisingly nice weather in the UK recently has slowed progress :P
Worked on the belt a bit.
Carvings on the buckle are a bit weak so I'll push those a bit further before I bake
Cheers
