glad you guys think its a good idea.
Here is a reference sheet that i put together. Practicing presentation. going for a draft table scrap paper look.
these are images i looked over alot while sketching out some rough thumbs. im posting those thumbs tonight before i go to sleep. expect them very soon.
kinda leaning towards 4 and 1. I also like the idea of him having a huge revolver on his back that he will use with his robotic arm. experimenting with possible floating flat screen tvs for his flag. with crack n stuff in it
Those are some awesome thumbs there man, If you can still call them that. :P
I really like 1, but also 3 because of the poncho.
The flatscreen tv flag is a very cool idea.
Great work, one of my faves so far. I'll be watching.
Rilem- thank you very much. They are a bit over rendered to be thumbs. sometimes i get a little carried away early on. apparently alot of people are digging the poncho XD thanks for watchin. dont be a stranger.
Ybourykina- the furnace gauntlet is a def must. this is gonna be hard to decided but it really seems that ill just have to mix them all into one. XP
striker- thanks cody! i think the flat screens are def in. just a question of whether itll be one or two
stinger88- i think you like 3 for the poncho hahah. its def goin in there.
egg whisk! LMAO
you might be on to something there. he hand built the sword out of scrapped junk.. so... it might very have been a kitchen appliance lol
Maph- thank you very much. alot of people have been liking the messy furnace hand of one.ill probably maryy the two. but i personally like the blockyness of one of the others. this will however dictacte less wrist movement, and yoshi is known for using his robotic hand to spin his blade like a propeller what am i gonna dooooooooo.
nizza_wang- thanks bro! im leanin more towards 3 after all the feedback. on 2 i like the arm bit of his left arm. its a noh mask. i might try to squeeze that into the final design.
seth- 3 is happenin mostly thanks for the feedback. and the flat screens are in too
EtothRic- hahah. everone in a semi western world can usea poncho! it cnceals their intent to draw a weapon ;D
suburbum- 3 is mostly happening. not a big fan of his face though. major tweaks in that department.
ROBOTIC NINJA BATTLE TO THE REDEATH
so noone is really digging the more victorian look of 4. noted

it's nice, but I don't think the facial expression fits the character. I like that 4 has kind of a seamless feel, but steampunk isn't always about seamless manufacturing.
suburbbum- yeah hes a bit too clean cut. it really sets him apart from the behaviors of the real yyoshimitsu. I dont believe he has ever had a clean proper design. Steampunk is already far from yoshimistus original design. i should lose too much of the original character though. thanks for the comment.
Dustinbrown- thanks bro. yeah i kind of get carried away in the thumbnail stage, but its because i know that i can never make up my mind on small details so i figure drawing them all in rough will help me narrow it down before i get into 3d. i want as little designing as possible in the 3d stage. this knocks out that annoying retopoolgizing step.
azuryon- thanks. couple of more concepts before i can get to the moel im afraid. have to do some refined bust ideas and a front and back first O__O
mesmurda- looks like its gonna bea mix of 1,2 and 3. i wasnt a big fan of 2 myself, but ill sneak in some aspects of it
#3 to the win! Love the western style..
May I suggest you to make a hat more sombrero look instead of chinese...
but if you did this to show where he is originally came from, then it's ok
Pleeease keep the cowboy boots, you could make them shorter though
#3 here too, i also like the small detail of the exhaust pipe coming off the arm in #1, I picture his arm chugging and sputtering like some old western locomotive... these are awesome and I am jealous:)
HAHAHAHAHA so awesome! Always love your style. I dig the body and hat of #3 but the skull face of #1. Perhaps with the bionic eye too. Great job. I am super keen to see the next update.
Artwarrior- thanks bro. i will def experiment with the hat to be more sombrero ish, but if it makes him too jokey then ill nix it. pix of this soon. are you refering to the boots from 2?
Enodmi- il amke sure to keep the pipers intact after you said that i made funny puttering spitting sounds with my mouth to mimic the gadgetry. thanks lol
duncan- thanks dood! im fleshing this out more tonight. ive been so damn busy with work. yikes! when are you entering?!
hahahhaha Work? who needs work? I had a moment of in-decision I was going to jump out of Dom War and into the Brawl but then I got invested in my character so decided to stick with it. Oh and any new works? I am still hanging to see your next update.
glad to see ya change in brawl duncan
thanks Baj Singh and Jacquechoi. Ive mashed up all that i could from the concepts. this isnt a final design but its close enough in 2d for me to start sculpting things out and testing the translation into 3d. Heres the concept and a quick bust sketch.
this will be my first semi hard surface model in zbrush so ive got my work cut out for me. right now everything is one ztool that was retopo in 3dcoat after some initial sculpting. things are lookin kinda mooshy right now, but this was really was just for testing out my concept. the face was bugging me the most so i started there.
im going to have to get use to blending multiple ztools together to make sure things like the goggles and other cylindrical shapes stay clean.
sorry for the slow updates. ive been really busy with some low poly modeling for a studio. ill try to be more attentive to the forums. im seeing alot of awesome progress from some of my favs!

It’s really hard to decided I like all of them, especially the furnace feel of the gauntlets
3 is my fav, but with big hand on 1
Sword doesn't show up very well in the concepts. I thought he was holding an egg whisk for a moment...which would be an awesome weapon btw. :P
the flat screens is an awesome idea
i'd say 3 but i really dig the torso and shoulder/upper arm bits of 2

Great start on the concept sculpt, I'm totally digging the direction your taking his face in!
