help modeling this arc with the indents on it

I'm a newby trying to learn , and i'm having some trouble trying to model this

Posting what you've already got would help!
The trim at the top looks like a separate piece, so model it separately and don't try to overcomplicate it.

correct, i can't seem to come around modeling the 2 indents above the arc without damaging the geometry.

Wireframe would be good to see, since we're discussing edgeflow. It's hard to tell how its created with a clay render...

What I would do is model the top detail seprate to the main wall. then for the main wall start off by modeling the arch.
for the arch i would model it using lofting or sweeping (much the same thing)
heres a tutorial.
