They should put 50% opacity on the spells bar, so if anyone can mention that to them please do: http://arrowheadgamestudios.com/
Otherwise this seems like a fun little game for $10, thanks or sharing.
"Can you set yourself on fire? ok right... how do you put yourself out!?"
"Wizards can't swim..."
"Charge up a few spells and apply it with your weapon."
"Fear not I will heal you, and then PUNISH YOU WITH THIS BOULDER!"
I have to say, this is the most fun I've had since couch co-op back in the SNES/GENESIS days. Some of the most challenging stuff too. The depth of combinations you can do and the combos after those to pull off, mixed with the hilarity of the game had me and friends playing till about 3 or 4 am last night whether we could get a multiplayer game going or not. Frikin love this game.
i was playing a short session of singleplayer yesterday after work with about 8 backseaters before we went out to the pub. today at lunch some guys were laughing so hard i just had to go over there and check what it was all about, they were playing Magicka coop. It looked awesome and hilariously fun!
In a while me and some friends will start playing together, cant fucking wait.
so far it has colored me impressed and for the first time in a video game i feel like real magician casting spells. Because of how you do it and how it can fail miserably and hilarious. its fun theory crafting about what elements i can put together and then see if I get a result similar to what im expecting to happen.
Just a heads up:)
Sectaurs, myself and Meisse played a lunch.
Was a blast! I loved when one of us would try to heal a team mate then hit the wrong key and BOOM dead.
The game is definitely worth picking up.
$10 is a steal.

This game is great, but the netcode freels really half-assed, couldn't get a 3 player coop game to ever work more than 5 minutes with 2 friends yesterday...
We had all sorts of problems just trying to get a playable game with 3 people. Often someone would die and disappear from the others screens or some other odd problems.
When it did work it was a lot of fun and I love mixing things together. Found the quickest way to heal was to lay a spread of healing landmines all around you and run over them.
ice, arcane, lightning is probably the 'uber weapon' it seems.
The opposing elemnts is awesome too. I was combining a frost beam with someone else's one then the last guy started his own beam, but I noticed he had fire mixed in just before he cast. I was thinking 'that's probabl going to be ba...' KABOOM! All dead.
Even single player is riddled with a few problems, like the "events" that force you to being stuck in 1 view until ALL the enemies have been killed, but the problem is sometimes not all the enemies walk into your screen so you have to run around the edges of the screen spamming some kind of beam and hope it kills whatever is leftover.
The clever little "puzzles" in the tutorial also don't appear often enough in the actual game. A little too much action-based, which is fine if the action was clever as well. Most of the times it isn't, you can get by spamming ice shards rapidly throughout most of the game. Theres only been 1 enemy so far that actually gets healed by ice, I think there should be more enemies that have stronger elemental resistances to make it more important on what elemental combinations you use in every battle.
It's still fun of course, just saying it's not as clever as the tutorial had me hoping!
Love all the pop culture and classic game references, they are awesome and make me smile
Just got paid and bought this, cool game, I just end up spamming the ice shards most of the time cause there are too many goblins on screen to actually aim, pity about that really.
My only major problem is lack of save game, why bother with checkpoints if the save isnt persistent upon exiting the game? i've played the same single player levels twice now and not because I did anything wrong but just because I had to turn off my pc for a bit not impressed.
The most recent patch introduced more problems for my friend. The game sometime freezes and shuts his PC down instantly. This is the only game in which this happens, not even in BFBC2 which is very hardware picky has this happened.
Everything was tolerably pre the latest patch, but not it's like he only can play for 10mins before the game kills his PC. Really strange.
Well, the patch DID fix the connectivity issues for the most part. Which is good, now we can play with our other mutual friend too
Use it either as a beam or as AoE, breaks the game totally(and also very good for killing all your friends at the same time)
Actually, Lightning+Arcane+Cold works even better. Not only does it deal devastating damage, but it slows everyone down when you hit them. Sheer awesomeness.
If you find that gamebreaking, try making it through 20 waves online with friends. Friggin' hard as heck.
Such a pimp game! I have yet to have any issues whatsoever with the game. Some lag, occasionally when playing with a friend. But that has been addressed.
Very impressed by this game, especially when it was only 10$.
Yeah it's the "so horrible it's funny" type of humour, I find it easier to laugh than be shocked or appalled about things not directly affecting me or those I know, but I can see why people would find the pictures horrible...I just find them horribly funny, in a horrible way, for I am horrible.
There is a difference between 40 years ago and today. Imo, nothing should be sacred and protected from humour, because if some of it should be, then everything should be.
And are you suggesting the people in those photos are not real?
Also those pictures are FAMOUS, they inspire many people, why can't they inspire folk to laugh as well?
well, I think I can guess the point Ninjas was trying to make with these pictures but I don't think this is Magicka making light of the Vietnam War, they are spoofing Black Ops and other modern shooters.
@xvampire: It's not the same human. Seriously. It's so long ago most of the people are either dead and if they're not they are probably not surfing polycount looking to get offended
Wait, they weren't supposed to be funny? But rather bring light to the fact that they are making a mockery off of a human tragedy?
Well, don't I feel stupid/indifferent (whichever offends you the least)

Apparently there's a handful of bugs, but they're working hard on patching them up asap, which is great. $10 is a steal!
Also, this article makes it sound even more awesome.
Definitely a very cool system, hope other developers take note.

learned to self-shield real fast
also the challenge mode is fun with friends hehe.
I haven't had this much fun accidentally killing myself since I first saw ragdolls in ut2k3.

Can anyone get the thunderstorm to work?

Steam(Fire + Water) + Arcane + Lightning + Lightning

Learning spells reminds me of when i was playing Dungeon Master on the amiga.
I would love to see this system in larger scale rpgs, used in melee as well as magic, done right it could really change things up a bit.

That art can't be official.
Edit: I'm laughing at the trailer. Just to be clear.

your taste of humor is
lower than animal

so can i start the picture montage here?
ah internet.

the question is : shall i do it
yes or nay?
or rather this discussion would turn into hypocrite and one sided ...
