Modular Harbour
Some time ago I posted some pictures of a low poly ship I made for an iPhonedemo and I thought it needs a harbour.
So my programming-buddy gave me 8k triangles for the hole harbour mesh.
I did some research on the buildingstyle of cities like Portobelo and Cartagena:
concepts
modular buildings:
after alot of try and error with lightmaps and searching the internet for good tip (-> thx eld)
finally I had some fun creating different lightingmoods.
by the way here is the ship again:
and a super low charakter for the crew which will be animated
some inengine shots:
thanks for reading and feel free to comment.

What about using a simple stone tile for most of the buildings and then float windows, doors, and big brick trim on planes?
Also the algae seems pretty new and lacks some variation. You have to remember the tide comes and goes so its being dried out and re-hydrated 2 times a day. The bits that stay wetter longer are home to more sea life. Normally there is a white band at the top where its been dried out the longest, a greenish stripe that fades to brown/black darker and wetter lower down. Also the lower you go the more likely you are to see barnacles and other shelled animals that stick to things and filter water to survive.

better?
The programmer said that alphamapping is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD on the iphone, or at least in his engine. So I will stick with the extra uv space.
Here is another building. It's pretty highpoly:
