from what I gather - adam was cooking something with oil, yes? Something happened then BOOM - it asploded on your arm. You and the GF are fine (mostly) but a good portion of your apartment got crispied?
This was a third degree chemical burn, right? So that skin that just looks white and damp under the peeled flesh is just MORE dead meat? I had second degree burns from my toes to thighs a few years back - couldn't walk for a week and swelled up like a lobster (puffy and hard skin). I can sympathize
holy shit! I heard a glimpse of your story when you were in that corner office, thats horrible. glad it wasnt worse, oil fires are insane. hope you feel better soon dude.
Best wishes of recovery. On the good side, it does look fairly clean, maybe itll heal quick ?
As for art, maybe you could simply leave the computer alone for a while, and simply draw with your left hand on pieces of paper pinned to the table. That way you could rest on your right elbow and draw with the left hand almost naturally...
Really sorry to hear about this man... I can't even imagine the amount of pain that must be coursing through you right now.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and everything goes back to normal and all that comes from this is a brief period of healing and a messed up story to tell.
Edit: If you get an opportunity it'd be cool to see the healing process of this and how you end up treating it.
I got asphalt burn on my forearms when i was 12, in therapy they "boiled" the infected skin then peeled with a surgeon knife to remove all the shit that got stuck in there, no fun.
Figure it'd be easier to nav with your whole forearm vs just your wrist and with Funky's Funky Bar you can move your normal wacom macros to the funky bar so at least Max might be easier?
Sucks dude, I'd imagine that ranks up on most our "nightmare" lists. Good luck with the surgery.
Adam, relating to that article your friend mentioned you in - I've used these before and while not perfect, they are decent and work pretty well with one hand.
well i'm an asshole. I just saw the pic and thought... "whats the big fking deal.. its just your pic of your hand with a wet paper towel wrapped around it" then I see it skin and attached to your hand. Sorry man, sucks. Ask the doctors for a cool star wars robot hand. They'll say the technology isn't available right now, its a lie.
Sorry again man. At least you are all ok though. I agree with Pior. Maybe find a Plien Air painting group/class. I did one for a few years in Los Angeles and it improved not only my painting (both traditional and texture) skills and my 3d skills a ton. Plus it's nice to get out away from a monitor.
Oh my god. Something bad happening to my art hand scares the living daylights out of me. I messed up my wrist in a bad mugging a while back and for a few weeks I was bricking it.
Good luck with surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery! Seriously, get the fuck well soon dude!
ouch havent looked at the picture due to being hung over... hope its good seared a bit off my knukle on the cooker the other day hurt as hell so cant imagine...hope you got a good bottle of whiskey
Oh shit man, third degree burns. Hope you make a full recovery I'm not even good at art and I am deathly afraid of something happening to my right hand.

You could always train your mrs to do the key presses for you whilst you use the mouse/wacom with the other hand...
Good luck with surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery! Seriously, get the fuck well soon dude!
sorry to hear that, Adam, all the best wishes and fastest recovery to you.
What a fucking nightmare.

Burns are THE WORST. Hopefully the meds your on are the best.
I had some wrist pains time ago and had to switch to left hand. It took about a week and worked out pretty nicely.
But remember, if all else fails, there is this:
