Lets post some good ones, lets go for good art value or good storys or ongoing only (Im so sick of 1 shot webcomics that are about video games or something related to video whatever)
Freak Angels is written by Warren Ellis and as such should be read by everybody.
And Menage a 3 and OGLAF are exceedingly NSFW.
As for my selection, I'll go with" www.mspaintadventures.com
What started out as a tacky forum based stick figure comic where users voted on what should happen next has evolved into a brilliant and incredibly complex 4 dimensional storyline that I'm not going to even try to describe here. You will have a lot of catching up to do if you want to get up to scratch with the current story as the typical update is 5 pages occasionally getting as high as 26. Oh and It hasn't been drawn with MS Paint since the very first page.

I'm going to take the chance to pimp Kranburn again not only because my mate draws it but also because its really good. An ongoing story set in post apocalyptic Melbourne

A story about bootleggers during prohibition. Who are cats. The art is really nice on this one, though it's very slow to update.
www.amazingsuperpowers.com has always been a favorite of mine.
make sure to hold your mouse over the comic for alt text, and make double sure to find the secret comic by clicking the hidden question mark to the right of the page.
Exemplary comic. The corrupt cop ones are my favorite.
I really enjoy sheldoncomics. Have some of the limited collectors books aswell. (Custom art the artist drew in it).
It's about a young boy that lives with his grandfather and is a millionaire (but that never really comes up after a bunch o strips. Sometimes he goes back to the company but eh. He's got a pet duck whose brain he downloaded wikipedia/books into, that duck also has a son... that is a lizard.
Anyyyyway. It's briliantly fun. Here's one of the newer strips I enjoyed.
If you like "I can't draw and or my shit is only mildly funny" comics, check this one out. http://tsoalr.com/ (Turn Signals On A Land Raider, 40k geek humor)
Gunnerkrigg Court has an amazing storyline full of mysteries and such, and at 30 chapters so far, there's quite a bit to read. The art evolution is pretty awesome to see as well.
Not really a web comic but a blog about a guy that tasked himself to create a comic. I've been following the progress for some time and theres loads of cool tips n tricks in there. The end product "Nonplayer" is looking awesome.

IMHO I like the shift in art style depending on what is being shown, the real world has one style, the ether another, Coyote's stories yet another, and City Face yet another, yet the style reflects the characteristics of how things are viewed and experienced in that realm (for instance City Face is in greyscale because its from the point of view of a pigeon).

I know the guys who make this. (sorta) It'll be animated soon i hear.
Crossed - Wish You Were Here.
Dark on-going zombie-ish drama. A lot of strong violence and sex. There are several other series set in the same universe online and in print, and apparently an upcoming live action web series directed by Garth Ennis. http://www.crossedcomic.com/webcomic/volume-1-chapter-1/
I'm also going to link to Kranburn again because it continues to be an excellent ongoing post apocalyptic and very Australian story. http://kranburn.thewebcomic.com/

A more comicy comic would be Questionable Content http://questionablecontent.net/ it's a bit like a teen soap opera wit swearing and fucked up jokes.
