Motion Capture Pipeline

Greetings Polycount!

I'm doing research for my university to build a Motion Capture pipeline for our videogame projects. Kinda a big job right? :)

Pretty much what we're looking for is what Epic Games does:

We have a motion capture studio nearby. They use the Vicon Motion System, so the format should be VSK.

I'm looking for information on how that data can be processed into something usable for Motion Builder, and then usable for Maya. If anyone here has jumped through these hoops before and can provide some insight, that would be most helpful.

Here's a link to a previous pipeline we almost used. Unfortunately, the student who worked on this pipeline graduated a while ago, and the pipeline has been unused for the last few years. Perhaps it can be useful to critique:
