So guys finally starting/finishing up the sky. I've change the colour from my precious posting. I really like the vibrant colours. Now you can see the other city in the sky i'm trying to find a way to give it more life… i should be done this weekend FINALLYY!!!
FireEscape ladders. I see them. So many of them. I think they are adding noice atm. consider lightening them or thining them out. They make sence on the buildings that are close by, but the taller and further out you go, they start to look wierd.
The FireEscape are gonna stay you mentioend it looks "Weird" thats what i'm going for in this scene. I'm pretty you noticed a very small detail on the buildings that have FireEscape ladders, they have no windows or doors that are visible on those buildings, which again is pretty weird and heading in the direction of surrealism which i really wanted to come out in this scene. I hope that makes sense
To be honest, I think its a shame that you have that greeble going on in the sky. Don't get me wrong, I see the point of it conceptually. It is just that you have a lot of detail going on, and I think this piece would benefit from some negative space to allow it to breathe a bit. I hope that makes sense..

This. You can have wierd without the noisey stuff. Things are fighting for attention atm.
the only thing I don't like is that black hard aliased line in the far background. my eye goes straight to it. other than that keep watching inception lol.
@bbob: ur right dude, i put way too much emphasis in the sky city , i've pulled it back a lot more. its still here, but not in your face style thanks for the advice.
so i'm almost done this project ! about 95% done i've changed the direction of the light and added more atmosphere (depth) into the scene, i pulled back the city in the sky. All i'm gonna do know is fix the steam/clouds and fix the alphas on the grass planes and that should it it !!!
The city in the sky still feels a bit tacked on as if it's just an image with lower opacity =/ (it's Jobye btw :P). Maybe having it bend towards the sky towards the back could help integrate it a bit better?
