I love how at 1st I was like "awww they changed freeze's voice" then the suit closes up and its the awesome robotic voice from my childhood my only concern is they are throwing sooo many villans in the story might suffer a bit, but if they pull it off its going to be aamzing. would love to see a really well done clayface. he was in AA but it was such a small part.
Those straying away from the purchase of the console version and deciding to give the mouse and keyboard a go will be delighted to learn the highly praised PhysX engine and DirectX 11 effects will continue to shine. Notes the writer, "Even ignoring the absence of [these PC exclusives] (such as tessellation, fog, and more loose trash in the streets) -- holy crap, do the console textures look poor by comparison."
In [the courthouse battle], the not-so-subtle PhysX enhancement causes a wooden wall to splinter as inmates are flung against it.
An additional combat detail was also mentioned for the first time in the article:
If you happen to be near a wall or rail, Batman transforms it into an instrument of justice by slamming a goon against it.
This new technique is seamlessly integrated into the "free flow" combat system the franchise is becoming famous for much like the cape stuns, takedowns, Batarangs, and throws from Asylum.

Open world in Unreal?!? :poly124: Really looking forward to picking this up.
YEA!!! i preordered this and will be getting here in the mail tomorrow! i am psyched for this game! i squeaked when i saw batman glide and hold on to a ledge and knockout the guy under with his legs all in swift motion! man... this game is gonna be way awesome!
wooohoo! i just got my copy of it in the mail. i am so ready to go home and play it! the special edition is actually really nice. i like the statue, and the art book. i wish art books were nice big art books. but i like.
There's a 20% pre-order discount on steam if you already own Arkham Asylum, it's still got a 1 month delay but it's probably the best discount you'll get for the next 6months. and not to bad of a wait if you've got other awesome games to finish in the meantime.
The one downside, for me at least, to doing the midnight release is that when I get home everyone's already asleep so I can't play the game at a decent volume... so I have to wait til the next evening to play.... at least the local Gamestop is like Cheers, everyone knows my name and is always friendly.
Tv's on the far side of the room, don't have cables that long, and even if the xbox can play the system's audio out to the wireless headset, that sounds like garbage. I'd just as soon wait than put up with a lower quality setup.
This game is amazing! I really like how all of the city comes together. It felt a little weird to control at first, but now i can blaze through skies and bullet to knockout badguys and then just beat the crap out of them. It really makes you feel really good when you counter 2 guys, and knockout like 10 guys. It's a lot of fun!
The only thing i sometimes feel is that its small. Even the places where you go into buildings seem very limited small. Apart from that, story so far is great, voice acting is amazing, the look of the game is just right. I remember just standing there for a second while i was on the comm and it starts to snow.. and i see the snow land on my suit and it starts to get specks of drops of water and start to get wet. The attention to detail is just phenomenal.
Oh... i really like catwoman as well. the way she climbs is really freaking cool. Makes Ezio look like a pansy when climbing haha Very awesome game so far.
Rocksteady did way awesome! i can't wait to go back and play it some more. Anyone playing it??
edit: been listening to this song, its sooo good. To bad the OST with the game doens't include this. =\
Scudz... sorry to say, but nothing in that video made the upgrade appealing. It was just a metric shit-ton of extra physics objects cluttering up the gameplay area.
Question: Any tricks for timing attack combos and Catwoman's wall climbing to get the best xp from them? I can't seem to get into a rhythm that results in the best multipliers... I just wanna put fist to faces!

No need to be sorry, you're perfectly entitled to have the wrong oppinion
But seriously it's not for everyone and like AA it probably adds nothing to the gameplay, but also like AA it adds a lot to the the atmosphere. Having the smoke/fog effected by characters passing through it (or even existing at all in some cases), having bits of paper kicked around by passing feet instead of just big stacks that they clip right through. For me that sorta stuff just makes tthe playground that much more interesting and immersive.

Well, when it's that level of detail, yeah. I made every effort on Champions to have little details like that around to add some life to scenes. That video just showed roomfulls of clutter instead of finesse, at least to me. Just my opinion on it. I know with the first one I definitely felt some envy towards PC players due to smoke and whatnot reacting to the player moving through it, but the first game also was a tad slower paced, a predator on the hunt rather than the more actiony / fast paced feel of this game.
The Penguin is that much more disturbing when you realize his left eye doesn't have a monicle around it, but a broken beer bottle base the was jammed into his face by someone.
I'm really starting to appreciate the big shift in personality they've taken with the villains in Arkham City; just how batshit insane and brutal they are really makes the "they're leaders of bands of criminals that do their bidding" a lot more believable.
haha yea... and his left hand is not covered in bandages and in the shape of a penguins flipper. You can still see his fingers through it. They did a better job in their character designs this time around.
Oh yeah, more games need the death-taunts like what Rocksteady's done... you don't mind dieing quite as much when you've got those great little "one on one" insults from the villains.
Games like GTA and such could really take a queue from Arkham City. Both have a main storyline, both have side quests, both allow 'free roaming', but Batman doesn't feel like it's holding your hand through the missions, or that the missions are taking place within a bubble from the side quests, and when you decide "I'm gonna go after Mr. Freeze" you don't put up with some silly cutscene mission intro over and over if you should fail, you just go for it with just the info needed, and the Bats says what needs to be done when such a queue should be given. The game just feels like it flows from mission to mission to side mission and back soooo much more smoothly.
Beat the story, time to go huntin for stuff. I'm struggling to find the second victim or clue for the face-stealing killer. Also, anyone figured out what the series of numbers at 670 x 500 on the radio decoder is all about?

Congrats to the Rocksteady team, you guys are doing some amazing work!
Gotta admit, he's got a pretty cool voice for the character. :poly142:
Gotta be courteous, even if I'm the goddamned Batman.

Tempted to try this, but going to wait until I hear that manually adjusting the console's calendar wont mess something up.
