Hi everyone,
this is my first post here.I've been looking at the cool art on this forum for awhile now,so I decided to register and post something myself.
This is a sci-fi scene I worked on as my personal project.
Cheers.
I like it, alot. I think the suit could use some color and spec variation to ohighlight the different materials that it would be made out of, but I like the design.
Bravo, very nice hard surface work. I might play with the color on the armor a bit, I feel it could benefit from some minor color contrasts. Maybe make the light armor areas a bit darker, like the area below the groin. A wire frame would be nice too, Great job!
thanks for your suggestions guys,I agree that the textures could have been a bit more developed, will see if I can find time to come up with some improvements.
But the design itself was my primary motivation in this instance.
Here's some wireframes:
nice hardsurface modeling. Tho, the textures need a lot of work. The texture on the door for example seems like you just pasted a grunge map on it. See if you can tone down the grunge. Add some scratches and add subtle details here and there. Highligth those hard edges a bit more. Im sure if you do this. It will make the piece pop a lot lot more.
Right now it reads, very 90s.
Alex is the definitely the best sub division modeller I've had the pleasure of working with! Good to see you posting here.
I think the door would look better if the back wall wasn't the same texture type as the actual mechanism perhaps.
Great modeling. Super clean. I gotta agree with what the others are saying about the textures. I didn't even know it had I texture until you said something about them. Otherwise, good stuff.
Great sculpt. It's like the Crysis nanosuit meets Predator.
I do have an issue with the helmet/headpiece of this model. I can't really see what it's supposed to be. If this is a human wearing an armored suit, how does he see out of it? Same thing goes for robots. Robots (especially combat ones) would need some sort of optical lens somewhere on the body. Not only is there no way to see out, but the helmet isn't giving off any sort of vibe. It doesn't look very threatening or heroic.
If you did draw some inspiration from the Crysis, you should take note of the visors on the nanosuit's helmet. The visor is what gave the helmet that "don't fuck with me" look, which is something your design really needs.
Okay I'm done.
I'm not asking you to re-do anything because you've polished it quite a bit, but it's just something to keep in mind.

Nice work tho!
I agree with raul as well.

Good stuff,
Adam.
