the high angle camera and that near dof(whatever you call it) makes it seem like a giant is watching a toy house - its kinda cool
plus you ingame controls/camera looks nice/custom, is that something easy to set up?
Haha. The toy/doll house wasn't the desired result. We have DOF because we'll be having foreground elements, but we don't want too much attention on them Might have to play around with the DOF some more, to make it look more subtle.
The camera + controls weren't too hard, but I did have a lot of help getting it set up
Might be cool to have the foreground stuff just less contrasted or darker rather than relying on DOF. An art rather than a tech solution. Sort of like the old LucasArt point-and-clicks, where it was pretty much a silhouette with some very slight lighting here and there.
That'd definitely the way we want to go. Cheers mate
Slight update here. Life's been getting in the way of progress, but we've still been making our way forward with slow, mechanical resolve.
A few bits that need fixing. The way the floor parts of the doors are z-fighting, we need fresh windows for the reception's front door. Curtains for the kitchen.
Pedro's been blasting out some ace furniture props. Can't wait to get them in there. Hopefully more to see of them, real soon. I need to get on with hooking up the doors so they actually open, and then get cracking with the little lad's bedroom world bits. Then it's props for me, too. Wewt.
Still going with this, but we're not going to make the deadline. Not even close :P I took 3 weeks away, and Pedro watches too much porn.
Anyway. We're both learning shit-tons of stuff with using UDK. I could roll a list off as long as my arm. Still very much enjoying the project, and we'll be working on it up to and after the comp deadline's past.
Our second WIP video. I didn't have time to make any more music, so this one's without.
Im loving the whole feel of the level...you guys have done a nice job fitting everything together.
Nice TV mat too
You should change the rug to be more in-keeping with the inevitable Barry White soundtrack that goes with the fire and Pedros apparent adult entertainment OCD.
Such a shame it not based in the 70s/80s as then you could get some mean wah action going on.

Thanks man The TV mat is my best achievement yet. Learned the most by making it Pedro's ace prop art, a complex material, reflections, controlling the instance and the spotlight with kismet, adding sound.

Dude! BRB. Replacing the rug with a bear skin and a disco ball.
Aye, it's looking ace guys. Too bad about the deadline, but as long as you make sure to finish it, I'm happy. We don't want another beard of bees here!
So you gonna tell us what the secret twist is? Or you going to keep us waiting?! TELL ME THE SECRET TWIST!!!
.....Seriously though, this is really cool guys. Glad you plan to finish this!!
Might aswell tell!!!
The twist is that this level will be inside a TV studio hangar, where they film movies and tv shows.
So..
there will be lights in the scene, like these one. cameras and scafoolds in the ceiling with more lights and shit.
and these walls are made into plywood and shit
And they are filming an alien B-movie in this set :P
We were going to. My tired brain fumbled the submission date, so we missed it
That being said, we're working ahead to finish this project. Any chance you could rename the thread to "Invaders From Beyond" and move it to WIP, please?
Would like to keep posting progress here at PC Cheers!
