I have been working on this lot since yesterday, this is the first attempt high poly modelling using 3ds max and i am going to bake it down to around 3000 polys. Critiques needed. By the way it is the Sig P226

On a positive note, your edge loops are still there. I would remove about 80% of them, go back to your basic forms, and really have all the shapes where you want them before you start adding any type of details and control edges. I also would hope that you are working from multiple references. Right now it's rectangular, and real guns are less squarish than you might think.
Keep working on it and it'll get there, but you need to back way up and start with getting the forms down first.
with all due respect, if you feel discouraged or bothered by having to pay attention to detail, you're going to have to change your attitude entirely. Otherwhise, hardsurface will do your head in, comrade.
It looks like the slide and chamber are shaping up nicely. The hardest part of this gun is the rear at the top of the grip where it bulges out, lots of odd angles. Check that reference out to help block out that area. Also your trigger and trigger guard need to be wider.
Here is a link to my thread for the 226 I built if you are interested http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75772
more reference images needed and then start fresh, it'll be a good move to make
So, start with a REAL basic shape; a low-poly model. something that you can build a high-poly structure on top of. forget about turbo-smooth for now, until you have the gist of it down.
Good luck and don't be afraid of having your stuff ripped apart in the end we're all trying to make your work better.

Also, I agree with Alberto. Don't give up! Keep trying hard! You'll make it eventually. Even god didn't make the universe in a day!
