I know you are out there lurking somewhere..

Just tried the demo of this game Rise of Flight, and even with the horrible controls a keyboard has to offer, I was blown away with the subtle and passionate detail that has gone into this. Plus, its the prettiest WWI sim I have ever laid my eyes on (sorry harry :P). Really took me back to when I was a kid playing Red Baron II.


It's apparently been around for a bit, but if you've got a passion for the flying contraptions of yesteryear, I strongly suggest you to try this out.

Rise of Flight is good, but I love DCS: Black Shark - a russian Ka-50 gunship simulator. It's most advanced simulator since Falcon 4

Graphics in Rise of Flight is much better than DCS, but with all those clickable buttons and simulated avionics in Ka-50 there is little time to enjoy the scenery

I still play IL-2 occasionaly on Steam (with a keyboard :O) Anyone play Lock-on? I think that was the first flight sim I played. Good ol' times. need to invest myself in a joystick...told myself I would get one for Arma2

Slum: isnt there some crazy rumour of a new elite title in the works? I loved the space sims too. Wing Commander and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter were great. I still have the original tie fighter on 1.4 floppy somewhere.

Brings back memories, one of my first sims I got addicted to was Micropose' F14 Fleet Defender.



Was a huge flight sim fan since, something new that brought back that nostalgia would be great.

Xvampire: i started on a 286 and it was never that bad. That said its in Hercules 1bit so its pretty damn old.

I bought RoF some months ago but didn't stay on for long, mostly because it was filled with special-equipped ( Track IR and all that Jazz ) Sim Buffs who play this sort of thing way too often. Also the Multiplayer Support was somewhat crude back then, maybe it's better now.

Having to pay extra for any new plane also didn't really do it for me - i sometimes wonder if the game would be more successful if they didn't require this.

It's really pretty tho.

Last I've heard is that they are working on a dynamic campaign for it. They are also selling a boxed iron cross version in north america now, including all the planes.
