Imagine 2 player split screen... with no split screen, this patent alternates screens for each player using shutter glasses and a normal 3D TV, there's also talk about separate headphones built into each pair of glasses. Although it'd probably be cheaper and smarter just to get a 2nd tv (not really an option for most console games) I still find it a cool idea.
I think it could really only work for 2 people, each person will make the frame rate drop, I think current 3D tvs are at 120 fps, so 2 people or 3d for 1 person is basically running at 60 fps, 3 people would be 40, 4 people 30 fps. I dunno how well those glasses work for 30 fps stuff.
They have something like this in new Range Rovers. Where the driver see's Satnav and the passenger see's DVD's playing or whatever all on the same screen. And its done without the need for 3D glasses. Although each person needs to sit either side of the screen. Where as the 3D glasses mean you can sit anywhere really. The Range rover screen isnt really practical as a normal TV tbh. Just thought i'd mention it.
I just bought a huge flat screen tv for my bed room, then 3D tvs came out, i felt like i got ripped off somehow....damn technology and there upgrades...
