Dr Who 'Ood' bust (High Poly)

Hi all! Here's some test screenshots of a piece i've been finishing in my own time. I decided to do this version without any photo-textures to try and improve and learn new texturing/painting technqiues. Although it started out as being close to the original Ood character from the series - I eventually decided to start taking it in my own direction.

It's still a WIP (straight out of zbrush) and I hope to set up nice shaders and eventually use this in my new portfolio. I know you guys are tough so i've held out showing anything till now

I like it, especially the veined areas on the temples. Getting the spec map right will really help this pop - I don't watch Doctor Who, but it looks pretty cool. Tentacles on face = win. Even if they're not like it on the show, I'd make the tentacles pretty glossy, to give them a really wet look. How does the 'chin' meet the lower part of the tentacles?

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, but you're off to a good start! I didn't think Doctor Who had such interesting aliens...

danshewan - haha thanks I like the idea of doing slimy tentacles (they are pretty gross already - like corned beef - but more gross is always better!). I'll hopefully get around to making separate maps for SSS and specularity. Not sure how the lower mouth area will end up. May either add more tentacles that hide it or possible build an inner mouth area (haven't found any reference where its visible in the original).

I'm not really a fan of Dr Who but had to work on some assets a while back for an AR and Flash game combo with low-poly assets and that's how I started on this guy.

Yes the OOD!! Doctor Who fan here Would be nice to see them with their orbs

haiddasalami: The low poly Ood has an orb and body which I may put up - if I get permission (though that one was a completely different rebuild as originally I was told the engine we were using could use normal maps and larger polys counts)...

Can you show diffuse map?

polozad- this is just the painted sculpt. I painted direct to polypaint by hand and will transfer it to a UV map eventually.

This is looking really good, big fan of Dr. Who, and I feel that its coming along real nice. I made me a Ood a while back, and mines didnt come out this good, Great job!
