We already got mortal kombat movies that were pure fantasy. Turned out great huh? This would be better, but I don't see it getting made. It also looks bit too gory for my tastes. Like a torture porn.
I think they showed this to WB and WB was rather uninterested so someone put the trailer on the web. Now they can go back to WB and say "Let us do this movie. Look how much interest there is!"
Looks great. I hope they keep and greatly improve the RPG mode.
Never liked the additions they did in the xbox/ps2 era. Multiple fighting styles and weapons and the rpg stuff all added to making the game feel bloated and overly complex.
I'll be happy with something closer to mk2 than mk deception.
Let's get this thread on track,
New Mortal Kombat VIDEO GAME
Developed by WB Chicago which used to be Midway Chicago LINKALITY
I should be excited by that...but it just looks like the same ol' stiff animations we've had for years now, and graphics that look seriously outdated. I think SSF4, Tekken6, KOF12, etc have all raised the ladder visually, and no disrespect to those involved with it, this looks like a ps2 game...or a PSN, XBOX Live title. Yes, the gameplay is what matters, and I'd much rather have a slightly visually outdated MK that plays more like MK2/3 but I would think they could push it a lot further.
Arrives on 360 and PS3: April 18th US, April 21 EU.

So this shit is coming out and is looking AWESOME.
They even got toasty back in..
Demo out on PSN+ now and PSN on the 15th, might be 15th for Xbox Live too.
Seems most of the characters are from MK 1 to MK3. Visuals look great, moves, gore, everything.
And the game seems to be filled to the brim with awesome extra stuff, secret characters, potential DLC characters, PS3 gets Kratos as a exclusive character etc.

MK 1 was my first fighting game, I am very excited for this, so much cheese and blood.
Also, who better to show gameplay and offer comments on the demo than Giant Bomb
So, other than me, who's getting it?
Magic cups and slots? lol. just lol
Getting a head knocked off by a taxi, face in lava, face grinded by a subway train?
I'm getting it for those reasons alone.
So got a chance to play the demo a bit over the weekend. Like I mentioned when I first saw it, I think the overall presentation is a bit rough, graphics and sound are not on par with SSF4 or even Tekken 6. It does have that Mortal Kombat feel though, and the gore looks great. As far as how it plays, its troublesome that some people are already pulling over 60% damage combos but hopefully that will be addressed. It plays smooth, kind of a cross between the 2d and 3d MK games. I didn't play much of Mk vs DC, but it seems like it plays the same as that title for the most part. It's easy to pull off simple combos, but there are a lot of longer strings you can do when you get creative with your juggles.
Most importantly though, it's a blast to play. The demo gives you Scorpion, Subzero, Cage and Mileena, so just enough to get you excited.
Doesn't have to make sense, its a fighting game. Remember that OTHER fighting game that has Megaman fighting Chris Redfield...?
I just think its a missed free shot to get some extra sales. Most Gears fans are ADHD ridden teens and the 360 version would have got some extra sales.
It's not that it would be weird :P It's just that it visually would look horribly odd with a guy wearing 6 ton armour doing ninja like moves :P and if all he did was fire his gun he would be broken gameplay wise.
Cliffy B did suggest the third Carmine brother though, who honestly looks like he might fit, designwise :P
It could definately be great as a movie but personally I would prefer the series as all the detail and back story could be placed in without rushing everything.

I actually got a taste of the super mario bros reimagination movie from this trailer , maybe mortal kombat just shouldn't be a movie?

Well you cant have it corrupting people and end up with fatalities all over the place.
This looks fun, cant wait to be corrupted.
