Well, I made a compile of the w_model to see how my effort would look in-game. It's not that bad, only some parts are shiny and some not. I hope that the phong map will fix it. Apart from that, I have no idea why does the magazine pass through its compartment (or whatever it's called). Or maybe I do, I'll check it later. The clipping issues? They shouldn't be so visible during the action, no-one's gonna pay close attention to them anyway. More likely they'll focuse on blasting the living hell out of whoever carries it. Oh, and I managed to get rid of the AO seams.
Alright, I call the Outburst finished, now just have to finish the Toecutter and make a hat. Well, it looks like out of something that I wanted to be an epic 5 item pack only 3 items are left. I'm quite satisfied anyway, I learned a bit of UVW mapping. Actually, the only downside of this contest is depriving me of sleep this week. I'm so damn underslept. And actually I have to finish everything until Saturday, because I'm leaving then. Anyway, here's the start of the Toecutter texture.
Alright, I think the Toecutter's texture is pretty much finished, gonna leave it at that. 2 shots from the game and 2 renders. If I'll feel like it, might jigglebone the strap. It doesn't look too right being so stiff.
Well, even though I don't have a lot of chances to get this accepted compared to other entries, I'm not getting up from my PC till the hat is done. 'Cept for the toilet. I don't have any empty 1-liter mason jars 'round here I'm afraid.
Whew, I had a night full of war-themed hat making. Not even a second of sleep, but I found it quit nice and time flew really quick. Here's the result. It's at 1422 tris, including glasses, whic are about 400 tris themselves and should replace the default aviators, which also have abt 400 tris, meaning I didn't go that much over the limit. I also managed to put my misc. slot idea in there and I quite like how it ended up, probably even more than having it separately. The main shape of the hat was inspired by the one worn by Ziggy in Mad Max 1 (the dude who collected Cundalini's ripped-off hand).
Gotta submit them now. I hope Valve's gonna be able to make heads and tails out of my mess'o'files.
Yo Dawg we heard you like Sunglasses so we put sunglasses in yo Sunglasses so you can look cool while you look cool!
But the Sunglasses are a part of the Snipers model so it'd be quite an effort to remove them to make way for yours. I mean you'd need an entirely different model for just one hat. Or they make it like the Soldiers helmet and make the glasses an independent model
I didn't bother trying to remove sunglasses, no big idea behind that. Sadly, I didn't make that pack as good as I intended it to be. Nonetheless, working on it gave me some invaluable experience. I just didn't have enough time to work on the textures. Anyway, you're probably not gonna be getting it in the game right away, there are entries that are better in terms of execution.

Really like the tire-grip on the melee, but yea not feeling the texture
