--tried the search but everything seemed normal map related
so I'm having a problem with the Bevel function in Maya '09, it only happens in the specific scene I'm working on (which is my tf2 polypack so I'm not about to start over) where any edge I try to bevel explodes. it was working perfectly fine yesterday but now, well I've attatched a pic below showing it in all it's glory. needless to say I've tried resetting the tool, and maya itself to default but it made no difference...
as you can see in the top half i've got some nice beveling, in the bottom i've got..... well you can see what I've got....

as far as i can tell the normals are fine, there's no problems with the shading and when i show them they all stick out the right way, but again evena abrand new primative does the same thing.
just tried exporting an obj and just an mb but no diff.
arrgh!
