Recently (having only seen it first last year), a favourite film of mine is Mind Game by Masaaki Yuasa and Studio 4°C. I'm not normally into anime, but this film has such a unique presentation, rendering life-truths in a sketchy, creative way. The plot is simple, but the characters are lively. I would recommend seeing it, if you don't mind subtitled movies.
By far not my favourite of all time, no idea what that is really, but ah well.
I like it because it's memorable, great characters, fantastic story, awesome post-apocalyptic environment. You've probably already seen it, if not then you should.
Alien / Aliens is my favorite movies of all times. I really think that those two movies is the best scary sci. fi. 'aliens' movies ever. I love Alien because of its just solid acting and mood, and Aliens for its action and overload of one-lines that everyone knows. Plus the pulsrifle sound.
I kind of wish mine was some critically acclaimed Oscar-winning masterpiece, but we like what we like. I've never come out of a theater more surprised and excited than when I saw it for the first time:
