I just started modeling, and love this game (even though I only have the PS3 version) so I decided to take a crack at this. I probably won't submit this, but whatever. I will be making items for the Demoman. The theme is- Loch Ness Monster (better theme names can be submited). I have only come up with 2 items so far.
The first is a hat that either looks like the Loch Ness Monster, or is the top part of the head.
The second is a melee weapon. Replacing the melee is a harpoon. Here is a pic of what the head might look like.
I don't know what I'll do for the other weapons, so I'm looking for ideas.
The story behind this idea starts when the Demoman was six-years old, when he hunted down the Loch Ness Monster. Inexperianced as he was, he kill his first set of adoptive parents. We all know the story. But what we dont know is this, did he catch the Loch Ness Monster, or did he never find it? Apparently, with his new green leather hat and leather covered weapons, he may have captured, and killed, the Loch Ness Monster. That also explains why no one else can fid it.

Since you don't have the TF2 SDK (apparently since you dont have the demoman files) all i can say is "Good luck, you're going to need a lot of it"

If he sent the right files, you should be able to open them inside of Maya and/or 3DMax.

Got a rar extracter for the character models, but don't know what to do next because when I press them a lot of confusing txt comes up.
The harpoon doesn't look much like a harpoon, and would be a hard sell for a weapon if it did.
The hat looks more like one of those chomping things on the end of a chain in Mario 3 than a loch-ness monster, cartoonish or otherwise.
The new sticky bomb is a ball with a few spikes. Unless there's some interesting texture to go with that, there's not much to critique there.
In conclusion, the models are sincerely looking like they could do with being redone entirely. A loch-ness theme might have some potential, but I'm thinking you should knock out some better 2D concept art and work from there.
I think, however, you'll find it easier and better if you get solid conceptual designs down first, then try to make them into models rather than trying to model stuff and see where it goes. There's plenty of experienced folks here who can help you out if there's something you're having difficulty modeling, but if you're trying to wing it without a solid design, it's just going to be an exercise in futility.
I have no idea what that is. It has a handle and some kind of tommy-gun style clip, but it ends in some kind of spike with more spikes on top. Its been said before and it bears repeating: You need concepts and references! It makes modelling SO much easier, especially when you are starting out. You need to be able to realise what you want to create completely for best results, to understand where everything fits together in 3d space. I guess an analogy for this off the top of my head is a neat drawing exercise... Say you are drawing a truck. If you just drew out a truck from memory at home, you would be drawing what you think you remember a truck looks like. If you sat in front of a truck and drew it, you would draw all the little details along the body, get the shading and warped reflections off the paintwork, the correct proportions for everything...
I'm not sure if that actually made sense, but what I'm trying to say is, you need to find DIRECTION and I don't mean a small doodle or two. You should think of what you want to make (a lock ness hat), search the internet for sea monsters, nessy, film props whatever. Find the images that fit what you want to make and make note of what elements you want to take from each one. Then when you model the shape you can say, 'this looks wrong it should look like that!' and correct it and it will look better!
Of course the other side of modelling is understanding all the tools available to you and what your program can do! If your new to modelling, take time to watch video tutorials or walk-through videos of people modelling and you will pick up a ton of new tricks.
Keep at it and you will learn more during this competition than you ever normal would idly modelling away

It honestly looks like you've taken the original stickybomb launcher, stuck some small triangles/pyramids along the top and added some stickers on the front. There's no originality within the weapon. If this were in game, I would not want it.
Lastly, I still don't get how it fits with the loch ness monster. How does this tie in with your theme?
I am sorry, I don't mean to be negative and put your ideas down and I feel terrible for doing so. Don't give up!
Listen to what the others said, go back to the drawing board and design your weapon. Decide what's good, what's bad and improve it. THEN go and make a model from those drawings.
