Psyke - I'll try a bit of blood on the tips. I'm definitely gonna put some blood stains in the shoelace where it would have soaked in after hitting someone.
Karkasmolenklok - Thanks
Pogo / Khthon / Galago - Thanks. Yeah I'm gonna dirty um the grip more and make it more rugged and worn so it matches the condition of the rest of the bat. I probably won't leave it wrapped in straight lines either and will make them angled and more random.
One thing they don't really explain in the video is that after you create the bones for your jigglechain, you link your root bone from the chain to the main bone on the character, in this case that would be the weapon bone. If you run into any problems im sure there are enough ppl hanging around that can help.
Lemme see here a lot of the same.
I would like to see the burn mark being less...
I personally thought it was paint at first.
and blood on Ze shoelace in specific. that thing is too white for my taste and personally I think you should leave the texture alone and just tone it down some = tone down burn. and let the blood be your accent....cause it's red and pretty.
Good call, the can openers needed to be enlarged closer to TF2 hand size so they looked better. In real life the smaller can opener would just barely fit within a bat between the two notches on it. Anyways...
The transition from non burned to burned is a bit abrupt and it's pretty much a straight line, you should change that.
Other than that, it looks awesome.
The lighting in these aren't accurate and it obviously isn't using the TF2 shader but here's some Photoshoped mock-ups of how it might sort of look in-game.

Mind if I ask you how you did the shoe lace? Mine always looks pretty bad and the way I did it is a ton of tedious work.
I just made 3 "rings" then merged them together so they connected and angled them so they crossed in a natural way. It involved a bit a tedious work to get them to not intersect and look like they crossed each other.
Due to other projects, I probably won't make any additional items and will just submit the bat to the Contribute thing by itself when it's finished.
I'm pretty sure you win. at least on personal level.
You really matched the style of TF2.
and thats amazing!
and you listened to me. Thats always cool.
Here's my really old painted bat.
most people don't paint bats anymore.
but notice how the paint wears
it goes from the deepest color
to the parts that are worn are more saturated and lighter.
then finally the color of the wood gets revealed.
Also if it gets chipped at All the paint is the first to go.
I thought this might help.
since you said the black was paint.
Thanks, and thanks for the photos. Yeah that's what I was going for with the black paint, my texture just isn't quite there yet. I should probably have more grain showing through so it looks more worn.
In case anyone is wondering this has been put on hold for a bit and I'm not going to make additional items for the Polypack contest (none of my other ideas were that great anyways) but I'm going to eventually submit the bat to the TF2 Contribute thing.

Habboi - Awesome. Good to hear.
So here is a tut on how to do it.

This thread also has some handy info on implementing them.

I'd actually make the can openers bigger though. They look small even for the scout's hands.

Update!

The white would be the wood grain, the black the paint.
And yes, seeing it slightly brighter it does look like it fits TF2's color scheme better.
holy fucking shit

Great job tho...
That's a terrible shame, you had such potential >:
