Hello!
I was really excited by this here contest.
My designs are for the Heavy.
1. Harvester and Proletariat - in the service of the People these simple tools provide the nation with food and resource. In the hands of the Heavy they become instruments of violence and close-range death.
Basicly: hammer and sickle, replace the KGB.
2. Maliutka - a simple anti-aircraft flak autocannon. Usually mounted on tracked vehicles or stationary platforms. The Heavy carries it around and fires from the hip.
Replaces the minigun.
3. Iron Curtain - Heavy armor for the Heavy's unprotected shoulders. Fashioned from scrapped tank parts and propaganda statues. Will probably work as a hat/shoulder armor.
Preliminary sketch:
Replies
-facemask (with a very serious expression!)
-haphazardly made armor for the shoulders and one arm. big chains, maybe with some physics bones?
Secondary helmet idea, not really that fond of it:
Update: now with slicing sickle action! In retrospect, I gotta make the hammer bigger, so the view model is easily identifyable.
Also, even though they heavily personify characters and their stereotypes they do not use any real world symbols for the personification. I'm not sure how well the melee item would be recieved.
Original shoulder pads look like Space marine shoulders, second concept looks like something a gladiator would be wearing, not really the heavy.
The first hat concept is nice, but why on earth would you ever want to cover up The Heavies extremely expressive face?
The armor does seem a little out of place. Too post apocalyptic for my taste. That being said, the idea of shoulder armor is nice. Try making a mix of the first and second designs. More haphazard than the first, but not so strange looking as the second.
Too bad the "Maxine" replacement for the minigun already exists, i thought i would be original by making it.
I've checked the heavy's model in HL2MV to see how the animations work out, and yes, he would need new animations for the melee stuff. On the other hand, i don't think that this isn't a new functionality.
Thanks for the feedback now guys
