I think if you went back in with a speckled brush and added a bit more of a yellow tint or white highlight in the cherries you'd have made this study that much better. Aside from that, try to work the pores into the nose/light study. keep it up
thank gill, that's great advice I wasn't really goin for details on this one mainly just the value since i suck at it lol
So basically I have a question for all the seasoned guys here. Im lookin at paintings by sparth, and I'm just think sshiiittee thats the kinda stuff I want to be doin, but, I have no idea what I should be studying to get crazy environmental paintings like that. I've been trying some studies from picks and all have turned out completly shitty
Always pay attention to what your studying, if you like an image try and work out why and think while your doing it how to recreate this with your own work. After a study always do your own work from your head this keeps pushing yourself to see what you have learn't and the more you do the better you will become.
If i do an environment study i always do some thumbnails afterwards and try and do an image from start to finish just on my own, it does not work out that well most of the time but each time i do this i know what i've learnt and get more confident with painting.

ok so I haven't updated my warhammer environment because of midterm studying but I managed to sneak a quick paint in there, trying to use just a single basic brush. based on this ref http://timmeubanks.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/windmillfarm-03.jpg
