AimBiz-I try to resize it when its in the reply box here and it wont let me. havent benn able to go to the store to get some other paint colors so ill probably post it in about a week or less:) the painting sucks:(
nitewalker-will do. do you mean aimbiz's ds?
You should really try to find a local figure drawing and foundation drawing class for yourself. There are also many books that can help you with proportions and such for both figures and anything else you may draw. Also if you're drawing things such as buildings, I'd suggest using a ruler for a better line. I'd also suggest using some reference for what you're drawing, if you post it up, we can help critique a lot easier.
Oh! And if you do mainly 2D work, I'd suggest trying to get a tablet and adobe photoshop to work on some digital pieces. It's really fun once you get the hang of it, plus your canvas and tools are unlimited.
traditional sketchbook = ts
digital sketchbook = ds
!! makes sense.
so, it shouldnt really matter if you are learning from digital sketches while you learn to sketch traditionally right?
I have few books in mind that I saw at chapters I'll probebly go and have a look at them 2 days from now...
Technically, no. Traditional sketching and digital sketching are fairly similar, the only different being getting value in a base sketch is a little more of a subtle art than it is for the digital arena.
Digital and traditional painting are almost identical sans the use of filters/post effects, but otherwise nigh replications of each other from the perspective of actually laying down paint. You use the same basis of laying down your dark colors then working up to the light values(more often than not, I've seen some people do this in reverse).
nitewalker- will do
terrabite-for the figure classes i dont rally like figure drawing anymore. im not really into it anymore. i have a notebook with graph lines. can that work th same way as the ruler? i dont have ref since all of these designs are from my imagination. il try to draw from ref soon. i have a tablet but i suck at painting. i also have photoshop 7 and corel painter.
Well you keep on practicing marlfox...go to youtube and you'll find many people speed drawing in PS and Corel...there are bunch of tutorials there that you can use to learn and adapt skills from.
Drawing art just doesnt come in a month or 2. The proportion part took me about few months and I litrally had read about drawing figures and shadows.......
