Most of my family thinks I sit and play games all day. Also, every game that has a PS3 logo on it, I had something to do with it.

Mom - "What are you doing?"
Me - "Playing the game, looking for messed up stuff.."
Mom - "You are always playing games at work. You said that's not your job. I thought you made buldings?"
Me - "Yeah, environments. We play Call of Duty at lunch. And you always call around lunchtime."
Mom - "Is that a game where they shoot people?"
Me - "Yeah, a lot of people."
Mom - "Oh, did you do that game where you kill hookers?"
    Me - "Grand Theft Auto?"
    Mom - "I think that's the one..."
Me - "Momma, I don't make all the games for PS3.."
Mom - "It says Playstation 3 at the end of the commercial, so I told the girls at work you played that one and made it."
Me - "What!? Just tell them I make porn or something..."
Mom - "Lamont. That's not funny.."
    Me - "Yes it is."
Dammit, now I gotta clean up the mess I made with my coffee while lauging. :)

I still cherish my piece of animated video game I got with my degree.

People who don't understand stuff only bother me if their misunderstanding threatens my understanding, or life. Otherwise, ignorance is fine by me, equipped by any party. I don't understand a lot of stuff, and I hope nobody looks down on me for it. What? I've been busy do'n other stuff, shiiii-

    Hmm.

"My dad cares about my future! It's so fucking lame, man."

I would go further but Malus basically summed it up. Your parents actually show an interest in what you do, and don't care that you've chosen an unstable, difficult career over a stable, easier, possibly better paid career (or if they do care, are doing their utmost best to try not to show that BECAUSE THEY LOVE YOU) and your response is to go and bitch about it?

    Wow, dude.

As for the "uniformed people, aren't they irritating/hilarious?" comment, I would like to see you sit the other side of a table from a nuclear physicist and see how long you last in their estimation with that kind of attitude.

Every little bit of help, every little suggestion, every big suggestion, EVERYTHING that comes from your parents or peer group that isn't directly negative is A GOOD THING, even if it is small. Relish it and understand that it might actually be rarer than you think. Be glad that they're interested at all.
