yeah basically use your modeling program of choice to create the base meshes for your pieces (as many as you need as we are being pretty loose on this) and then sculpt EVERYTHING in your app of choice including the hard surface stuff.
Rens gave a great tip on how to subdivide without smoothing. I use this to add geo without messing up my hard surfaces. Once you have enough you can toggle the smooth back on and be good to go.
This is a good chance to learn some of those new features in zbrush3.5.
Oh, the due date is for April 7th...Anyways good luck guys. Might take you up on the next challenge when I am less busy. I was almost ready for sculpting.
